2)Dont sleep under blankets. Why do people always feel the need to sleep under some kind of duvet or blanket or sheet? Just shut up, get up onto your bed, lay on it and now go to sleep - again, feels awesome.

3)stop whining and crying, the temperature is at subartic levels in this province half the year, do a couple of 30 degree days really throw you that far off? If so I would suggest paying the couple hundred dollars and getting a small AC unit - its not like these things are made of solid gold and cost $300,000.00 each, they're very affordable and anyone can buy one.

4)This is not hot weather. Considering old people and young kids aren't collapsing and being killed by the heat, you know things haven't really gotten too seroius yet.

5)suck it up - judging by this thread we have a bunch of entitled little princesses running around the city, everyone of which being thrown into a tizzy by a simple 4-5 degree temperature increase. What will you people do when/if the weather actually does get hot?

1) Thanks to my inability to view anybody as anything other than their avatar, I now have the image of a shrivelled, old, nude Preston Manning in my head.

2) I'm amazed at people who can sleep without sheets. Some people just have odd sleeping requirements (fans, something over their face etc.)

3) Getting a small AC unit is the best advice. If I were to do it all over again I'd buy two small ones instead of one big one.

4) That's like saying it isn't cold in Calgary in the winter because it's colder elsewhere.

5) You got quite hostile as this list went on, which is a pretty strong sign of heat-induced anger. By "a bunch" you mean 3 or 4 people remarking how they don't like being sweaty all the time? Nobody is really freaking out like you say they are. It likely won't ever get that much hotter in this city, which is why I love it so much. People like to piss and moan about Calgary and the weather here... I actually really enjoy it. My in-laws are on a constant crusade to have us move to the Okanagan. Living in that climate full time would rank up there with scary clown nightmares in terms of fun.

edit:
To piggyback on what undercoverbrother says above, I'm amazed what having a kiddie pool in the backyard can do for cooling down. Had I known how awesome they are I would have gotten one before I even had them. Kids: not totally useless.

I love how people will pay thousands of dollars for this type of weather but complain when they get it for free here in Calgary for a few days. I wish we got this weather more often. A/C is a waste of money in Calgary. I think last summer we hit 30C once.
I say enjoy this weather while it lasts!!

Yeah, that was friggin' outstanding, getting to be outside in that bullsh*t for a wedding last weekend. Now I'm back in Camrose, cooking. Plus I get to look forward to a billion above zero in NYC this weekend.

My poor winter-loving soul is having a bitch of a time. To go from working outside in minus 45 (before windchill...probably felt like minus 50 or colder one day) to plus 30 with it feeling like 37 is insane.

the weather is unreal, loving it. Only thing that is semi uncomfortable is sleeping in it, because normally when you pay money to go to warm places they have A/C in rooms, so if you don't have A/C, night time can get a little muggy.

Calgary's weather in the summer is perfect, it's short, but it really is awesome. Based on my job I know lots of southern Americans, many of them seem to love Calgary's summers as theirs are outrageously hot and ours are "perfect".

When the humidity is 48%- there shouldn't be a humidex factor.

Wind chill is different, as it is quite common for there to be no wind when it is cold. However when was the last time warm with no humidity? For example, right now in Las Vegas (where we all know it's a "dry heat")- the temperature is 36 with 27% humidity. They say there's a humidex of 40.

To me, the humidity isn't a factor; as it is always there.

I do, it's just that it's pretty meaningless to the vast majority of people. Most of the year, you talk about temperatures only, and then when we reach an extreme suddenly people bring humidex or windchill into the picture and suddenly you're mesuring a completely different thing that people can't really relate to.
