I bought a standalone $500 AC unit a few years ago and love it dearly, but my wife takes issue with it sounding like a jet engine and can't sleep when it's on.

So - Anyone got some good watering holes around the outer edges of the city? I have a spot on the Bearspaw Reservoir I take my dog to sometimes for a swim, but it's not great for people swimming. I was thinking of taking the gf and her sister who's in town out to Big Hill Springs park but haven't been there in years and can't remember if there's any good lay in the water spots there.

I don't like the heat all that much, but I can deal with it as long as it doesn't last more then a few days or a week tops.
However, and I might be in a very small group here, I'd still take -30 over +30. Am I the only one here that prefers cold over heat?

I often tell people I moved here from Australia to get away from the heat.
So put me in your small group for colder weather.

Oh yeah, there's a cherry one that is low in carbs and no sugar or something. I had that once it didn't taste TOO bad. Better than the Crystal Light slurpees from Macs, but still bad.
I'm with Bertuzzied, I wish they had a no flavour slurpee so you could dilute the flavour.
Incidentally googling "KooL-Aid diabetes frozen drink" gives this thread as the first hit.
EDIT: Or Berry, not cherry.

kipperfan's tips for the wimpier half of CP:
1)sleep in the nude - what, you shy? Just do it, feels awesome.
2)Dont sleep under blankets. Why do people always feel the need to sleep under some kind of duvet or blanket or sheet? Just shut up, get up onto your bed, lay on it and now go to sleep - again, feels awesome.
3)stop whining and crying, the temperature is at subartic levels in this province half the year, do a couple of 30 degree days really throw you that far off? If so I would suggest paying the couple hundred dollars and getting a small AC unit - its not like these things are made of solid gold and cost $300,000.00 each, they're very affordable and anyone can buy one.
4)This is not hot weather. Considering old people and young kids aren't collapsing and being killed by the heat, you know things haven't really gotten too seroius yet.
5)suck it up - judging by this thread we have a bunch of entitled little princesses running around the city, everyone of which being thrown into a tizzy by a simple 4-5 degree temperature increase. What will you people do when/if the weather actually does get hot?

Makes me wonder if you guys even like taking a vacation to a place like the Caribbean?
Right after you step off a plane it feels like you walked into a volcano. Now that's hot. And it's awesome.

I do not. I'm not complaining about this heat but I don't like tropical destinations.

I suppose if your office were to, oh I dont know, ignite in flames perhaps, then yes the temperature could theoretically increase somewhat....

In the past twelve months June 2011 to June 2012 every month has been in the warmest third of its distribution dating back to 1895. The likelihood of that happening are 1 in 1,500,000. If this was a natural/coincidental occurrence then the odds of the next episode of this happening would be in 120,000 years.

That assumes the temperatures are independent events, which is pretty unlikely.

All these destination places have A/C that you can escape to. Or a body of water that can help cool you down.
