This is not a troll, but can you explain or shed light on the mindset behind the chinese culture's obsession with thinks like bear gallbladder Rhino Horn, and other things to allegedly help in sexual performance?

I've only ever known one person to do it. My girlfriend's roommate had a bag of MSG in their kitchen, but other than her I've never seen a chinese person cook with MSG. (Granted we use stuff like chicken powder which probably contains MSG.)

Maybe just my observation, but I find white people (especially white collar white people) very cheap. When I worked at my parents restaurant, I'd have white guys who would "treat" a co-worker for lunch, but make the co-worker pay for their own drink. Who does that? Either treat the whole meal, or don't do it at all.

I've been offered slippers a few times while entering Chinese homes and have opted not to wear them. Am I being rude by turning them down? Is this even a Chinese thing or just a coincidence?

The only time I've ever seen that is when the meal is being put on a company card, in which a lot of companies don't allow alcohol to be charged.

I've never seen that in a social setting.

At some point in the past, people needed up come up with all sorts of bulls**t to fix ailments. If you think about it, it's no different than other cultures. The asians are just a bit more extreme.

Also, the asian mindset is if it is rare, it must work. So someone came up with a brilliant idea that eating tiger penis will improve virility, and some guy experienced a placebo effect and really believed it. Thus creating a market for all impotent asian men.

Wtf? That's not normal at all. No one in my family does that. They'll tell you to take your shoes off, but that's about it. Maybe the people you met have very dirty floors. Or maybe they think your feet are disgusting and need to be covered up. I'm just guess and in no way insinuating your feet are disgusting.

What's the deal with Asian porn? Why do they dress like little girls and always sound like they're crying and/or being forced to do something they don't want to? It drives me bonkers. It doesn't matter how hot the chick is, or even if it's just a solo scene or something mellow like that. I just can not get into it. Hearing her whimper like there's some dude with a shotgun in the room makes me feel like a scumbag rapist or something.

I'm being serious when I say it really makes me question what the heck goes on in the minds involved with that industry. Either they're making it for an Asian audience, which means they enjoy girls sounding like they're being raped, or they're making it for a Western audience, which means they think we enjoy girls sounding like they're being raped. Either way, it's a gigantic pile of wrong.

Edit: This is something I've often asked of people I know (not Asian people I know though). I've never really got a decent response, other than agreeing that it's pretty messed up. Also, I apologize if this is in any way offensive to anyone. I'm really just trying to understand what the deal is.

Offering slippers is completely normal here. If I don't offer slippers to people coming into my home I'm being rude here. I don't wear slippers at home, and when people come over they sometimes comment on the fact that I'm walking around the home without slippers.

People here tend to consider the floor dirty.

I don't know why I can't figure out that Asia is a huge continent with many different countries and cultures. I try to tell myself I'm pretty understanding about foreign cultures etc, but I'm actually pretty inept about some pretty important things like being able to discern where somebody is actually from.

I think I asked this one other time on CP, but didn't receive a satisfactory answer.

What's the deal with all those little toys and characters you see on the dashboard in Chinese (usually women I think) peoples cars. I think Filipinos may be involved in this as well. Are they playing some kind of game while driving? I don't actually notice this as much as I used too. Perhaps the distracted driving law has scared the game players off??!

Also, where in town can I finally get a decent snake skin soup?

As a honkey, I can't tell where other white people are from. If there was someone from Germany or Czech or Finland or Ireland walking down the street, I wouldn't have a clue where they were from unless I heard them speak. This is excluding, of course, obvious giveaways like public drunkenness (Irish) or someone with a moustache that's only an inch wide (German).

So my question for a Chinese guy is this: can you tell where other Asian people are from? The Asian people I know seem to be able to tell a Chinese person from a Japanese person from a Korean person on sight.
