I gave up on this show a year ago. After the 1st season the show has been terrible.

Thanks for coming in here and letting us know you quit watching a show 3 years ago. Important info. What are some of your interests you have so I can tell you they suck too.
Anyways, Tara is brutal, she almost ruins the show for me. Jessica then saves it. As long as they keep her in the fore front i'll be a happy dude.

He plays this kind of character easy. I loved his 15th century painting on the wall.
I miss bada$$ Eric.

He was pretty funny. The comic relief along with the sheriff station.

I also am holing on to a re-vamp of Tara's character. If she still sucks, then she should die the true death.

I've been pleasantly surprised to the start of this season.
There's not as much going on which gives more focus to the more interesting storylines.
As annoying as Tara is, I think the story of a person who despised vampires like she did being turned into one is great.

The show is what it is and it has never promised to be anything but what it is. People complain about it and think it's supposed to be something amazing like The Wire. It's a soap opera with bewbies and sex! That's it! It doesn't deliver anything else. It's like Spartacus except Spartacus has more gore and sex filth for men.
Take away all expectations of a show with depth and enjoy it for what it is.

Believe me, the last thing I expect is for this show to be some serious realistic drama like The Wire.
This show was a mess after season one. So many boring and flat out ridiculous stories with characters that werent interesting.
They've simplified the show in the early goings of season five and I'm
Personally back into the show.
It's still an hour of fluff, but it's good fluff if that makes sense.

It's getting much better...in fact, the show was ruined in the past mostly by the Marianne bullcrap. Now that's in the rearview mirror, everything has improved.
Now there are a lot of interesting storylines:
- Vampire politics
- Sookie on Bill and Eric's bad side
- Lafayette and his alter
- Sookie and Jason's parents/cousin/fairy safehouse
- Terry and the Iraq backstory
- Alcide is ridiculously hot
- Tara as a vampire (not sure where they'll take this, but I'm sure it will still annoy me)

I just got caught up on the new episodes this past weekend and think this season is really good so far. There's been some great lines from Pam ( Am I the only one who notices half her head is missing), and some other good laughs.
Interesting the Swede and Doctore are now on the cast. Who is that guy that is their boss, is he on some kind of Law and order, or CSI show, looks familiar.

Chris Meloni. He was on Law & Order SVU for years.

The problem is that it could be a really good show... Take Game of Thrones for example. Fantastic show plus bewbies. True Blood could be in the same category if they would quit making stupid choices of which stories and charactors to focus on.
For example the Vampire politics in season two vs the religious cult was really good but instead of flushing it out they expanded the maynat plot.
Season 3 was quite good with the Russel plot and this seasons Vampire politics and even Tara plot seem pretty good. I am worrying the lafayette magic plot is going to drag it down. And then you have season 4 which large parts of it were unwatchable.
If the show was just fluff that would be okay but it keeps coming close to being really good and missing that it's frusterating.

There is a MASSIVE difference between Game Of Thrones and True Blood. True blood has and will always be closer to smut then anything else. From the writing to the visuals it is sex and that is all. If you compare it to GOT it will fail every time. You have to compare it to it's genre. I get that at some points it actually has a really good storyline in it but the formula for the show is specific and it has a huge (mostly lonely house wife) following for HBO. It's just going to be about relationships, men with sweaty muscles running around shirtless and women with bewbies that you want to motorboat. There are a few butter faces so we don't all feel so overwhelmed. This show will never take off into something great.
It also has better ratings then Game of Thrones, sadly.
GOT averages about 3.6 million
True Blood averages 4.97 million

Is this on again soon? I saw a new trailer for it that was recorded on the end of a VEEP episode a week ago, but it got cut off, so I had no idea what was going on.

Last year it started early June (I think the 3rd or 10th) so I guess it will be soon.
Just read the battle of the TV show thread...makes sense now why this was bumped.

It's back June 16. I'm sure it will still be disappointing.

It started as a great show for me, then a guilty pleasure, then a show I didn't want to give up cause I'd invested too much time in it, but sometime last season I did stop watching it.
Just far too much like a soap opera.
