No kidding. If they'd have shown her completely nekkid, I'm sure a lot more people would've tuned in next season.
Also, since the preacher is back, I am hoping his cute little wife will be back also.

I hadn't been watching it week to week just been putting them on PVR, but in the past week I caught up on the entire season and I did find it a lot more enjoyable than last year
excited to see that the 1 good part of last season could be coming back as well

Who? Russell or Reverend Steve?
And I'm just glad that it looks like Jesus and Tara won't be coming back.

I'm assuming diane means Russel. I liked that twist. I knew it was bound to happen, so it didn't come as a huge shock, but I guess I had kind forgotten about him.

ya I meant Russell, I thought he was the only real great part of season 3
I like Reverend Steve back as well, I think the show was at it's peak in the first half of season 2 and he was a part of that, hope his wife joins him
I think this season on the whole would be a 6.5/10
They got rid of some huge mistakes (Tommy and the rest of Sam's family) and made most of the plots intertwined unlike last year when it felt like 3-4 different shows
it's definitely not on the level of the other HBO/AMC/Showtime heavyweights but it's an enjoyable summer show

They better fricken not bring back Tara. Balls I hate her so much. I have a feeling Eric will come and magically save her and she'll do a complete 180 and love Vamps for some stupid thing.

I really liked the season premiere last night. Great lines from Pam to kick off the show when she got to Sookie's house.

Ugh. This thread with this thread title got bumped again. Can we start a true blood season five discussion thread. Everytime I see this thread title on the first page, I die a little inside.
Haven't watched premiere yet, will be grudgingly watch later today.

Season is off to a better start then previous ones. Seems they want to be a little more edgy which is completely fine in my books. I wont say what happens in the premiere as it seems most people havent checked it out yet.

Season 5 Premiere - Pretty Decent
Thought it was a solid premiere last night myself - hopefully it's the start of a really great season.
Can't wait to see Chris Meloni's first episode (hopefully next week!) as it will be just sooooo weird to see Stabler with fangs!!! LOL

This show has been best when its been about vampire politics and not bon ton. So the russel escaping and eric and bills plots will be good and hopefully take up more screen time.
I think i will be suffering through the Tera, lafayette plots as always. Season 3 and the dallas part of season two were really good, other than that the show really is a trashy romance novel

Lafayette is a great character. You don't like Tara? Isn't she the only chick to not get nude on the show? Most people don't like Lafayette because of his lifestyle and it seems they don't like the two of them because they are black... I'm chalking you up there you racist!
In all seriousness Lafayette is a great character. He is written very well. He has to be strong and verbal. The dude lives an a racist southern state AND he is gay. Dude, how would you be in that situation! He is by far one of my favorite characters.
Tara was supposed to have had a hard life but I don't think that hit home because her writing fits with that life, but it doesn't come across, and because of this I agree with you, she is a hard to watch character. She is annoying. But like HBO did with BIll, they changed his character and made him more deviant. Now Tara is a Vamp and will have a complete character recreation. The woman playing her is freaking hot. Now lets hope for some bewbies!
This show is not ground breaking and is for sure a romance novel at best, but I am okay with that and I don't think they are trying to be anything but that. Women love it and guys are watching it with them for the nudity. I wouldn't give it the time of day if it wasn't so soft core. My girlfriend, at the time, got a lot more frisky after episodes and I know she was imagining Erik while I did my business... Mowing the lawn.

Chris Meloni! Shut The Front Door! I love this actor and I think he will bring a whole new vibe to the show. Excellent choice. I fell in love with his acting when I saw him in Oz. Ew I feel dirty. But that guy is great. He can play anything well! He could play the part of a pepperoni on a pizza and one minute you'd be in stitches, but the next sobbing and full of regret and remorse for his character... The pepperoni slice.

I like the lafeyette charactor, I dont like the plots they have given him especially last season where he had a major arc. When he was more a side character i thought he was better. I didnt mean to sound so negative about the show as I do enjoy watching it but I think with a little better writing and a few less plots it would be much better.

Chris Meloni should be awesome-sauce with an extra helping of epic this season - I believe I read somewhere he has something to do with the Authority so he should be pretty bad ass all things considered. Not lying when I say that the vampire story arc is the only one I'm really into this season either, the shifters bore the daylights out of me (despite loving Joe Manganiello).
On the Lafayette front, I don't know that any of you care but really he shouldn't have made it out of Season 1 had they followed the books more closely. (He was one of Rene's victims in the book.) I'm glad they kept him tho - he really does add some flavour to the show as he's "more than just a pretty face", unlike Jason & Hoyt, for instance.
I'm also really interested to see what happens with Jessica - she's clearly spoiling to be kicked down a couple of pegs now that she's really started enjoying Bill's position and the associated perks it gives her as his off-spring.

Ya that's fair to say. Last season felt a lot like watching a general hospital episode or passions (Not that I watch that crap) with all the plot lines.

During Monday Night Football 2 seasons ago the girls who came wouldn't stop talking about the books. There eyes lit up every time they saw each other because they could gossip about their smut books. It was quite funny to watch. So I know more than I should about the characters. Jason cracks me up. Hoyt's a pretty face? I must be a freaking model then! Honestly Hoyt's time has come and the show should move along without him.

Haha Hoyt isn't ugly (even if he is no Jason....) but I'm intrigued to see what they do with him & his newly embittered single self. The whole girlfriend-fu##er thing made me chuckle the other night.

Was so glad to watch last night's episode & not be disappointed by Chris Meloni's character in the least. Menacing, intelligent and just plain cool - as the head of the Authority, he was excellent.
Rev. Newlin almost stole the show tho....
Only downside imho was the whole Tara story-line...

Tara is just as fracking annoying as a vampire.
