only players I can think of sold the last few years were Berba and Carrick for a combined 50m, don't think many would argue which team got the better of those days...
chances of Gareth Bale going to United are nil, when he goes in a few years it's Barca or Madrid
Who were better on those team than Dracula or Carrick? Bent? Defoe?
While I would've rather kept Tevez over Berbs, and didn't like the drama of that transfer, he was their best player.
He idolizes Giggsy. That can be leveraged. Barca can't afford. Real I suppose.

none of the big players are typical Harry players who he brought on
Levy sanctions every transfer, Harry moaned on and on about not having total control, just because he fired the coach doesn't mean they are suddenly going to give away Modric and Bale, they both have contracts for 4 more years
Gareth Bale's agent says it is a "problem" that Tottenham Hotspur will not compete in the Champions League next season but has played down reports of a bid from Barcelona.

yeah, that went really great for Tottenham, especially because they were able to replace Berba with some world-class strikers. I remember when I flew to Manchester 1 1/2 years ago for the United-Tottenham match and some Spurs fans in our hotel chanted for hours "who needs Berbatov - we have PAVLYUCHENKO!" in the evening before the game ... I'll forever cherish these moments

if he idolized Giggs so much he would have gone to United when he had the chance, he chose Spurs
agents care about transfer fees
I don't know what you plan on leveraging, Daniel Levy is not sentimental, and he has said he won't sell his best players to English teams

I still cherish United fans hating on Berba a month after he got there, and it never really stopping
the players who were brought in afterwards have nothing to do with United getting put through the wringer and paying 32m for a striker who was probably worth about half and was a starter for 1 year while he was there
I must be missing something. He seemed loyal to Spurs, his results were pretty good, other than the collapse at the end of the season, he stuck with them. And now, what, he leaves because he only has another year left on his contract?

great bit of business that was
he was still the PL topscorer despite just playing in about half the games in 2010-11. He wasn't worth the huge money though, I agree. I never really understood why there was such hate/criticism for him. I feel bad for Berba, I think he deserves way more credit for his time at United than he gets from fans, media etc. ... especially in the first half of 2010-11 when Rooney was out because of his transfer freak show and injuries, and Hernandez was still adjusting to PL football. Berbatov was fantastic during that time, and he was one of the main reasons for title #19. Unfortunately, he was then clearly outperformed by both Hernandez and Welbeck. I feel bad for him because he has always been a talented player, but for some reason he never really seemed to fit in at United.

Carrick isn't very good, I really don't think you are getting that
LOL. "no flashy youtube video" One of the top completion rates in the prem.

Spurs had their best finishes after those two 'best players' left.
and if you are going to pretend that Berbatov doesn't get criticized over workrate I don't know what to say
I agree he comes across as lackadaisical, and effortless, which is even more upsetting considering 3 of the last 4 seasons, Berbs has scored more goal than any Spur.
Tottenham manager Martin Jol insisted Carrick would be staying with the club, stating "I don't want to lose a player like Michael, who was probably our best midfielder last season"
So many things wrong with that comparison I don't want to get in to it, but in short point form
Parker plays with one of the best passing CM's in the world, Carrick plays with Anderson or one of two old men, Parker barely crosses midfield so he obviously sees less of the ball
The article gives the best reason to choose Parker, his interceptions and tackles are higher, he's a defensive midfielder that is his job
Carrick>Barry, anyone with eyes can see that while flashes of Mesut Ozil sprinting past him play in their head
I wish he wouldn't have made his prickish "start me or don't pick me statement" because I would have chosen him for the team as a backup for Parker/Gerrard
