I think the length is likely due to the need for them to set the tone for what Gotham is like without Batman now and why it will need him again.

They did that fine in the first movie, combined with origin and a villain plot arc, in 2 hours 20 minutes.

If the trailers are any indication, I'll probably need to see it 3 or 4 times to really understand what Bane is mumbling.

Boy that's a long time for a movie of this type (comic, action). Runs the risk of moviegoers looking at their watch counting down the last 45 minutes. I don't mind if it's required to portray the entire story/vision as I usually like extended cuts but I can see casual movie goers a little put off.

Don't know if it was mentioned, but kudos to Tom Hardy for taking on the role of the villain. I know Bane is a different character and all that, but it takes a lot of courage to follow Ledger's iconic Joker as the sequel vilain.

Yeah, and hopefully he does a better job as a villian then he did in that Star Trek movie, he has a lot to pay for.

By far the worst character/story in trek history.

I think he was slightly over shadowed by Admiral Doughty and the other crappy villians from insurrection.

Man the last two generations movies were hot garbage.

I suppose at least Nemesis felt like it was trying to be a movie. I mean it was a terrible movie, but a movie none the less. Insurrection might as well have been a two part episode.

If people could sit through 2 hours of the Avengers they can definitely sit through 3 hours of Nolan's Batman.

We're any of the generations movies good?I don't remember a single one that was anything better than rotten.

First Contact was decent. It wasn't anywhere near as good as the best TOS movies like Wrath of Khan or Undiscovered Country, but it perfectly watchable.

I agree that First Contact wasn't terrible except it completely destroyed the whole concept of the Borg by adding that stupid queen to the mix.

The only thing that saved the first one was Malcolm Mcdowell

First Contact is entertaining. But it ended up raping the Borg.

As a stand alone movie, it's an okay 'zombie' movie. But it isn't that great. Really isn't that much substance to it.
