I've been guilty of not recognizing this for years, but if a girl smiles at you, or is smiling the entire time you're talking to her you can pretty much guarantee she's into you.

Haha tell me about it. I got into my first serious relationship at 21, and due to low self-esteem and various other issues stayed in it about 2.5 years too long. Got out of it last year and was ready to play the care-free bachelor card but met a really sweet girl that I liked a lot and didn't want to get away so I've been dating her for over a year now.
I guess the one thing I could recommend is to behave like you have a girlfriend, but not a serious one, which really goes back to the whole not giving sweet F all about rejection. Also, don't be afraid to act a little stupid around girls. Girls get a kick out of guys who will dance like jackasses in an attempt at self-deprecation.

Having confidence is basically the only thing that really matters. The way to have confidence is to just not give a ####. Don't try to attract anyone. Just be friendly, have a sense of humour, and act normal. It'll happen.

Euro backpackers or South American English students are 100x more approachable, better looking, laid-back and more fun. Trust me.

Listen to your instincts.
Once you tear the wrapper off of the box it gets easier ie once you get the first crash and burn out of the way rejection doesn't burn as much unless your really loaded.
funny story. I was out at a bar with a friend of mine and we got completely plowed. He was incredibly shy around woman, but I goaded him into going and talking to this girl.
So he stumbles up and says what sounds incredibly sauve in his mind but it probably comes out as "I'ya wanna blurb, bassara, nice boobies"
Of course he gets shot down completely and comes back to the table downs a drink and starts cursing me for sending him to talk to a total snob.
So what the hell, I walk up, basically say hi to her and spend the next while having a nice semi drunken conversation with a girl who was actually really nice and felt kinda bad about shooting down my friend. So I do what comes natural and completely drive my friend into the turf, get her number and then stumble back to the table. Of course he see's this happen and is all depressed, he's moaning that he sucks at this and he doesn't know how to talk to girls, then he calls a cab and goes home.
the moral of the story, its all about luck, and getting used to getting shot down more then you succeed and laughing it off.
It also pays to have a good rejection line so that you can leave a conversation with your head held high. There's a line that works really well from Van Wilder if a woman completely shoots you down in front of her wing woman and not in a nice way.
Her - "Yeah I'm not interested, blah blah blah"
her friends "titter giggle"
You - "Wow, if your here who's watching hell"
her - "Hey, your a d1ck"
you - "I completely am"
Oh and the buying drinks before starting a conversation is wallet suicide, if you open a conversation that contains the words "Like" "Buy" "you" "drink" your done, the only value that you have in her mind is as a self contained ATM unit.
Think of talking to chicks as being similar to learning how to play the guitar, you need to build up a callous that protects you against rejection. at first rejection like playing guitars hurts, but eventually that callous builds up and rejection becomes an epic source of humer down the road, and you get better and better at knowing what woman want to hear and what they don't.
Keep your line of questions and coversation simple, especially in a bar where its noisy and your both drunk. Somewhere the neo feminists of the world made the rule that its all about her, and to listen and they said something else and I wasn't paying attention. If you ask a simple generic question, and your past that prelim awkward hey what's your name, a simple "What's your story" will go a long way.
There are two awkward times in any relationship. 1) The first approach 2) The first time you have sex. Think of it this way in any relationship, number 1 is way easier then anything else that your going to do.

For reference, 90% of the posts in here work when you are LOOKING for girls or are in a new relationship. Try pulling this crap off with a wife/long term GF and you will be in some trouble.

I saw this thing on ITV the other week,
Said, that if she played with her hair, she's probably keen
She's playing with her hair, well regularly,
So I reckon I could well be in.

Also, learn how to dress. If you're like me and 90% of dudes out there, you've probably gone through your teens and early 20s with no clue on how to dress yourself. There are a tonne of great resources on the web that can help you, but the point is to get out of the hoodie and jeans and buy some big boy clothes.

So apparently everyone on this particular internet forum:
1) earns more than 100k a year; and
2) is dynamite with the ladies.
I wonder if this is representative of the internet as a whole?
Sorry...I'm just as guilty of this stuff as anyone.

Most of what I know about women, which is admittedly very little, was learned completely by accident. We can give him all the advice in the world but it's still a poor substitute for actual experience.

Or don't.
Dress however the hell you want.
I like hoodies and jeans. I'm getting married to a girl who doesn't care if that's what I usually wear. She's usually hanging out in yoga pants and a tank top anyway. Neither of us are fancy people, and thats ok too. Sure we may look like bums, but we can both be out the door in 10 minutes if necessary. I frankly don't get along well with people that take an hour or more to get ready every time you want to leave the house. You might. Good for you. Good for me. Not everyone needs to be the same.

Thats all well and fine when you are in a relationship, when you are single you need to dress up a bit.

Depends what you are doing. If you are going out to dinner somewhere nice then sure dress up nice. If you are going to a pub or movie, jeans and a hoodie could be acceptable in winter.

No you don't. You think he needs to dress up.
Just as you will claim that he'll never meet anyone if he doesn't look nice, I could just as easily claim that hulkrogan would be lonely and single right now if he did dress up. Perhaps his g/f or wife or whatever hates guys who dress up too much and wants someone who is more casual. Maybe he'd never have hit it off with her if he didn't dress the way he does.
The bottom line is that you have to be yourself. If you fake being someone else just to meet women you might get laid but if your goal is to meet someone for a long term relationship then you're pretty much going to have to live at being someone you're not just to keep your significant other happy. And once they find out, and they will, they will dump your ass and you'll feel even worse for cheating yourself.
There are certainly things you can do like be more creative or ballsy but I wouldn't suggest changing who you are just to meet a girl.
