No chance, Bautista is a really good RF and has an outstanding throwing arm.

Jays would look to convert a player who is a poor fielder but has shown the player has power.

(i.e. kinda like they did wth Lind.)

I would definitely say there's a chance. Jose has a plus arm in right field but his overall defense is rather average.

If the Jays can find another outfielder and Jose is willing to move I think there's a very realistic chance we see him at some point in the next 1-2 seasons at 1st base.

Why would the Jays want to move Bautista out of the Field? Its hard to find a Right Fielder who has a great arm. If AA decides he has to find a new 1st baseman... I would bet he would trade for one.

Out of the Fielders that the Jays have.... only one who has a great arm is Bautista. (Thames / Davis would not be effective at Right Field).

Snider has a good arm, but who knows what AA has planned for him. I would not be surprised if he is traded at the dead-line.

The Blue Jays have some good young up and coming outfielders in the system that will require movement of the outfield positions in the next year or two. Moving Jose to 1B is probably the best move. He can play the position well and would only get better with more time at it.

Jose has a bomb for an arm and IMO is at least average or above average defensively, probably the latter. How many times over the years have we seen a runner going to second and thinking about heading to third only to see Jose get near the ball and promptly stop at second? Not sure why you'd want to take that weapon out of the field. Of course anything can happen, but for the near future I don't see any good reason to take him out of RF.

Difference between Lind and E5 is quite a bit. Edwin would be a very poor fielding 1st baseman.....
I think not. Edwin is at least passable/average as a fielding 1st baseman.

I've seen him make a number of pretty good fielding plays when he used to play 3B in previous years. It's the throwing that gives him fits and that's where the vast majority of his errors and mess ups come from.

E5 makes the big plays...no question about it.... problem with this guy is he has mental lapses... he will bugger up a easy play that should be made.

There is a reason why he is used as a DH 99% of the time this season.

As for 1st, he is below average.

Lind is a better 1st baseman than E5 .... which does not say allot for either of them defensively...

That reason is that Farrell committed a thousand at-bats to Lind to start the season. That clock is pretty much up, which is why he is (now) being moved around in the order and I think he might start to see more time on the bench.

If Lind had been injured for any period of time then EE would have been starting at 1B. He's fine at first base - his struggles were always related to throws.
If Vladdy plays his way into regular DH duty then there are no other moves that need to be made.

Lind has a multi year contract if I recall.... not sure what they are going to do with the guy...

Personally if I had my choice Lind will be released... or find the guy a new location.

At for Edwin, I personally don't believe he is the long term 1st Baseman. He is a DH who can play a few games at 1st or 3rd if required.

If Lind experiment ends, AA will need to find a better solution who can drive in runs and hit for some sort of an average....

I think starting next year, Lind is up for team options similar to what Hill's deal was where the final 3 years were team options. But it may be another year yet until the options are there, so if someone wants to find out for sure and prove me wrong I'll eat humble pie.

Either way Lind is playing like a guy who wants to be out of the majors...which at the year would have surprised me because Erik Hinske has hung around this long...no reason Lind couldn't do the same thing. But at this point having him as an everyday player is a real liability. His OPS is less than what Overbay gave you most years, and the defence isn't even close.

I wonder if Edwin gets at least a look at first once interleague play starts. Surely they won't sit him and his bat in favour of Lind.

They'll keep him on the roster through next season for $5M and then will likely pay him $3.5M to void the remaining three years of his contract.

Spoiler!

Pretty big move in my eyes... Be interesting to see if Gomes can capture that spring training line he had going.

Wow, as much as Lind has struggled, I didn't see this coming. Hell, he only got moved out of the cleanup spot a couple weeks ago.

Can't imagine this will end well. IMO he's not the kind of guy who will respond well to a demotion. Considering Gomes has been tearing it up in Vegas, I'm interested to see how he fares.

He's a 24 year old with a seemingly decent bat, yet he's been cast as a utility infielder. Intrigued to see how he does.

Pretty surprising, however the amount of time given to Lind to work out his struggles over the last two years has seemed very generous. Farrell put a lot of trust in Lind putting him the clean up spot for a lot of ABs and Lind never produced this season.

Adding to that Anthopolous is a guy likes 'athleticism', and Lind certainly doesn't help himself in that department as someone who is known to not care for working out in any way.

Of course this is all IMO.

That seems strange. Why not stick with the appeal? Is this some round about way of getting Lind in the minors for a few days?
