I usually ignore added info when it comes from politicians. There's usually a negitive slant and some fear mongering added in.

Going back to your car salesman analogy, if one guy knows the other guy is selling lemons but doesn't tell you, does that improve your ability to correctly determine where you should buy your car?
The test drive and the salesmans ability to answer my questions will help to determine if I buy his car. As for the lemon comment, I do my research before choosing an automaker or type of vehicle.

Sure, you might figure it out yourself, but not everyone will... and when we're talking elections, you get stuck with the car that the other buyers want.
That assumes all politicians and car salesmen are honest with what they tell you. You and I both know that is not always the truth.

Reason: more added.
It is weird to farm out infrastructure decisions to Quebec and the Maritimes. I would have thought the Wildrose would have more of a made in Alberta solution.

Because they believe what they wrote. They think they have the Truth(tm).
I get and respect that they stand behind what they believe (even if I don't believe it). But this is politics, one of the dirtiest games of them all. If your oppenents find something they can exploit, they always will. As someone mentioned our politics are becoming more Americanized (though to be fair, so is a lot of the rest of the worlds), its because we're dealing with these things, issues that draw on emotion, rather than the actual issues, like fixing health care, that draw on logic and rationality.
Also just heard on Global Danielle will be taping an interview tonight to be shown on their morning show tomorrow. Obviously a wiser decision than doing nothing.

What is the issue that you have with taping the interview in advance to fit her schedule. Once she sits down to start the interview it isn't like she is allowed to say "oops, what I just said makes me sounds crazy, let me redo that last question"
They can still show a live tape on the show without any editing or extra takes and I would imagine that Global won't allow her to preview/approve their footage either.
My problem was her intial excuse to cancel the interviews. You want to sleep in a bit more? It was a pretty weak excuse. As I said a taped interview works, and I get she can't mess up on tape and get away with it, but lets be honest the pressure is a little bit bigger when its live.

She's part of a debate forum here in High River tonight.

She lives an hour and a half away from the studio and will be out until 11 at an event. They wanted her there for 7:30. I am sure like anyone else appearing on TV they want to be there a bit early to prepare and they have to spend time getting ready in the morning before leaving the house. Politicians are only human and I would imagine that working from 5 AM until 11 PM for 28 days is an inhuman task. Especially when work requires you to be on the ball constantly as someone records your every word.
Our crews work 12 hour days, 24 days in a row and at the end of it you can see that they are bagged.
I respect and appreciate that she works hard and puts a lot of effort, probably 3 months worth, into a 4-week election. But she agreed to the interviews live initially, and only cancelled today. I'd assume with the logistically difficulties in an election campaign the interviews were agreed upon several days ago. Obviously with the issues with Wildrose have been having the last few days, it raises eyebrows to cancel 3 interviews (not all tomorrow if I remember).

Elections are a marathon that people usually run to the very end...I think this move is Smith limiting her exposure because she is ahead and wants to minimize any potental damage that might come out from a bright media spotlight.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with Christianity. I thought that the Old Testament was still an important book. I think my first question is still valid though. Is Leech saying that all sin is morally equivalent? (I'm not trying to score points; I'm sincerely curious.)
The problem too is that Christians are very selective in the application of condemning "sin". Both working on the sabbath and sodomy are "sinful" but I don't see too many christians instructing that we should put people to death (as the bible instructs) for people who work on Sunday. Yet, many Christians are up in arms and judjemental about two men having bum sex - even though it is none of their business and does not affect them in any way.
This West Wing scene sums it up nicely:

What does that make people who surround themselves with people like Hunsperger?
You know what? I do not support WR. I will be supporting the PC party come election time. I am telling you as a Conservative supporter that Redford and her team have run a crappy campaign. The fact that one of her advertisements, in the final and crucuial week of the campaign, had an offshore rig on it to represent the oil sector of Alberta, only confirms that fact.
Having Hunsperger and Leech surround Smith is no better...nor is Morton for the PC party...although Morton has only spoken about not supporting gay marriage and did not run on at the mouth like Hunsperger and Leech did.
This is apparently an actual sign in Bridgeland, not a photoshop. Sheeeeeeeeeeiit.

PC's are blanketing Calgary, I have a new full color multi page flyer in my mailbox every day when I get home. No mention of the local candidate, it's all Redford on the brochure.

I had a brief one on one coversation with Danielle Smith after the debate tonight in High River. She is a very personable person and it's hard not to like her. What impressed me the most was that she took time out of her busy schedule to talk and answer a heath care question I had. She was very sincere in her response and took the time to answer my question and gave me a detailed response. You don't often see politicians doing this.
The Calgary-Varsity all-candidates forum is tomorrow but I got an email stating that due to the expected turnout, it is limited to members of the Dalhousie Community Association. What about all the people who aren't in contact with a party and were waiting for this event to make up their minds on how to vote?
This is interesting: my understanding of the land use debates was that it's basically a question of general public interest vs. rural NIMBYs, but here's a rancher who says it's not.

I live in one of the new ridings, Livingstone-Macleod.
I have not received one piece of information from any of the people running in my riding. I did receive a pamphlet yesterday, but it was the PC pamphlet outling what the PCs will do on various points of interest, the one with Redford's picture on the front.

Interesting, I find that they all demonstrate this persona come election time
