Yes the horror, especially when your beliefs are prejudice in nature.

Well, if you go that way, you can technically argue that anything that requires surgery is not what nature intended.
Or you can go the other way and say the human brain is natural, so anything a human brain does by definition indirectly stems from nature. So if that's the case, then this is perfectly natural.
So no, it can be (and often is) debated quite regularly.

Are saying that what nature intended and my opionion of the girl are two in the same? For the record I have no issues with this girl and what she has chosen to do with herself. If she was my neighbor I would treat her the same as anyone else. Honestly talking race, sexuality, religion is like walking on egg shells these says with everyone's prejudice guns cocked, loaded and ready to fire.

I hear what you are saying but there's a difference between trying to perserve life and altering genetics beacuse you are not happy with who you are. One is necessary to preserve life, the other is not.

Don't forget the god angle - god hates everybody that isn't like him, but also everybody is created exactly like he wanted. So again, it's all good, except everybody needs to hate themselves.

This is getting into a very gray area. This boils down to nobody should get a benign tumor removed, have Lasik, get reconstructive surgery if they're a burn or accident victim. Where would you draw a realistic line then?
Your belief system would solve a lot of wait time issues in Canadian hospitals though but I think the quality of life would go down a lot.

I think the best way to solve all our confusions is to take everyone in this thread to Thailand and fill a room with 50% women and 50% transsexuals, get everyone drunk and see what you wake up with next day.

Does a person who as had a sex change disclose that they used to be a man prior to hooking up with some one? What are the ethics around that? Does it make a difference if it is a one nighter or a real relationship? I think I would want to know in advance but it certainly wouldn't be my right to know.

No one cares if you have an opinion. Everyone has one, it isn't special. You miss the point.
Believing there is some sort of arbitrary, ill-defined and universal "natural boundary" not meant to be crossed, when your said boundary is nothing more than the product of your own beliefs and prejudices is sign of an asinine argument, if an argument that was meant to be. It's the argument of the religious, minus the wrappings of God.

Have you not watched Jerry Springer and a bunch of those other trash T.V. shows with titles like "Surprise my hot girl friend is a man".
I think there was a murder suicide caused by one of those shows where the guests girlfriend disclosed that she used to be a man to her boyfriend for the first time in front of a live studio audience and when he got home he killed her and himself.

Since when does nature intend anything?
Before anyone can argue or debate this with you, I think you need to define what you mean by this. This going against the "natural way of things" is what you seem to disagree with, not specifically who or what this person chooses to be, yes?

In the case of most transgendered people, it is not a case of they are not happy with who they are. We are all not happy with ourselves in some way. Do you love every physical attribute of yourself?
Imagine, just for a minute, that your brain believes you are male, but you have female anatomy. Do you think you could lead a normal, happy and productive life?
Going through gender re-assignment surgery is not something that one can just do. Most going through the process are there for 3+ years.
