Heh, trying to convince my wife that the 50% increase my apple shares justifies buying one as it helps to keep the shares going up.
She's not convinced so far...

The 3 month no interest financing plus same form factor = stealth upgrade. Easier to beg forgiveness in 3 months time than get permission.

Thanks for the advice here. My son and I watched Cars 2 in 1080p last night, and I would describe the experience as life altering for the both of us. This is my first iPad, and it is seriously awesome.
One quick question - I purchased the HDMI adapter and plugged it into an input on my receiver, which worked, except it seems to be in 4:3 aspect ratio. I found some settings for changing that stuff, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Maybe I have to dick with my TV?

Can't believe I thought this was a useless product before. I'm loving this, and the screen is AMAZING.

If we could do it again, I would get one like these since the folds are better to make a stand.

Have any of you guys found a case/shell like that for the "new iPad" yet? one that will fit with the apple smart cover? I'm still searching around and haven't found anything yet. some people say the ipad 2 cases will fit, others say it won't.

I bought a TPU snap case for the back on ebay...says it fits new iPad only for what its worth...worth a risk at 10$.
hasn't arrived yet but should be here tomorrow.
ipad 2 snap case didn't really seem like it was going to fit unless you force it

Any thoughts on what's a good screen shield to get for the new iPad?
I got a cheap one at Best Buy and it sucks, it totally removes the element of HD provided by the new iPad, I want something that'll protect the screen from fingerprints and that but I can still fully enjoy the screen.
I was thinking maybe a Ghost Armour screen instead?

I got the Logiix protectors. They take some patience to put on but most people can barely even tell that it's there unless you look for the edges. I had it on the iPad 2 but I noticed the latest version they sell gives an "oily sheen" under certain kinds of light at the right angle when powered down. But you don't notice it at all when the screen is on.
This is for the default glossy version, not the matte one that they sell.

I don't understand the logic behind screen protectors at all - they get dirty and scratched in their own right, plus they degrade the optics. They also feel considerably worse than glass for scrolling, multitouch gestures, etc.
If you're using any kind of case at all with the iPad (even a smartcover), you're protecting it against the number one cause of screen scratches, which is from being in transit, not from being used.
I can understand why someone might want a screen protector on an iPhone, since they don't typically have cases that cover up the face when not in use (plus the whole mushing it up against your head thing), but that doesn't apply on the iPad.

I believe all Apple products now come with oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprints. I've used screen protectors before and they just ruin the experience. You should enjoy the product you paid over $600 for and just ride bareback.

^In that case, what's a good way of removing smudges/fingerprints when they do come up on the screen without the protector on?
