I'll definitely be taking it back and getting something sturdier.

I had one of their cases for my iPad 1, and I got another in black for the iPad 3. Nice cases, hand made, and other than mine I bet there isn't another in Calgary.

Any suggestions for a light weight case that can turn into a bit of a stand, a la smart cover?

We got my wife a knock off of a case like these ones for her iPad 2, from Monoprice. It has the smart cover front, plus a hard shell on the back. It is one peice, so you don't need to worry about the cover falling off like the smart covers. The one she got wasn't as good as these ones, but it was about $12. If we could do it again, I would get one like these since the folds are better to make a stand.

I have 4 or 5 Ipad 2 cases that are pretty slick. They seem to fit the new ipad fine. I got em for 5 bucks each at Winners, they are a carbon fibre look. If you want one let me know, and swing by my work to pick one up. You can just have one for nothing. I saw them at London Drugs for $40 bucks.
Also a bit off topic. If you ever need HDMI cables, iPhone/ipad cases, screen protectors etc..... always check Winners. They usually have tons of them for next to nothing. I bought a 25 ft shielded HDMI cable there last week for 12 bucks. The IDENTICAL cable was $80 at Future Shop. I also got a HDMI to Mini for $6.00. Memex wanted 20 bucks. Also Princess Auto is good as well.

Which Winners are you going to Pylon? The one by our place has next to nothing in terms of electronics.

Yeah those look more like what I want, but by the time you pay tax/shipping they're $120. Might be worth it in the long run though I spose.

Northland usually, right above the Future Shop lol. The guys at Future Shop are in there buying cables sometimes to close deals..lol. But the Westhills one and Heritage is usually the best. All the stuff is usually near the wallets etc.....

I have one for my iPad 1, and really like it. I will try one on one of the iPad 3s at work and let you know. A couple guys have put their 3s in 2 cases, and they seem to fit fine.

The quality of the leather though is outstanding, as is the stitching. It's not a cheap case with cheap leather. Compare to this product: http://www.saddlebackleather.com/iPa...&category=1290 which is the same idea, with the same grade of leather, and the pricing is similar.
They are both decent deals for what they are, relative to a lot of the other leather goods out there, which are either highly processed, or stupidly priced.

I love the polyurethane smart cover, but all I'm looking for in a cover is a way to put my iPad down on a table without scratching anything, and to not add bulk to it. The smart cover obviously doesn't offer much protection against anything else.

Did anyone have problems with the new iPad overheating?
There seems to be a big fuss over it on the Apple forums.
Kind of shying me away from purchasing one right now due to this....

I've not played more than maybe 45 minutes straight of any demanding titles. It warms up for sure, but it's never uncomfortable (32GB WiFi).
Either the temperatures are ranging a lot from device to device, or some people are overreacting.

Probably some people who use it with higher end graphics whilst sitting on the can for a hour straight.

I played FFT for about an hour last night. Not that FFT is overly taxing on the graphics, but it did warm up quite a bit. Not painfully, scalding hot like some people are making it out to be. Someone said she put it on her thighs and they got burned. I call BS on that one.... but just in case you might want to keep it away from your nether-regions:
