Bountygate- cash rewards were offered to Saints players for intentionally injuring targeted players... management lied to league and potentially covered it up.

I actually have it, just don't usually pull it up at work as it would suck me in completely. Kind of like this place already does

The Jets just became much more competitive. I am sure Sanchez will go down the same road Orton did, perfect opportunity for Tebow. It is safe to say NY will be the team to beat this year

Damn Saints got bitchslapped HARD.
Tebow to Jets as well? Oh boy his career is going to die there if he doesn't play well. If he can't outplay Sanchez he shouldn't be a starting QB in the NFL anyway.

Listening to WFAN right now - they are eating him alive already - this is going to be a comical year in Jet land

Although the Tebow trade pales in comparison to the Saints story, my thoughts on Tebow to the Jets is mixed- I think they are bringing him in to try and mend the locker room and act as an option guy for mixed plays- no way he is there just as the back up. But, this should put some pressure on Sanchez knowing that Tebow is lurking over his shoulder.

Good luck trying to mend that locker room and someone as unproven as Tebow to do it with those guys.

I like the addition for the Jets in that they lack leadership and Timmy Rah Rah will definately add some positive vibes to the locker room. However how many >100 yard passing games will Jets fans be able to stomach? The Patriots already have the blueprint to stuff Tebow so I'm sure Belichick is licking his chops.

^^^^ Not sure Sean Peyton's exact salary, but apparently it is around $6 million! His suspension is without pay.

I was kind of hoping the fine would be 1 million, but 500k isn't too shabby, either.
What exactly happens when a GM is suspended for 8 games?

Well, interesting scenario now that he's been franchised. If the team falls apart this year (which I kind of doubt) he has the option to go elsewhere next off season.

He hasn't actually signed the franchise tender yet. So he's not under contract right now. Has until July 15th to sign a long term deal or the franchise tender or he becomes a hold out. Biggest thing it means now, is the fact he's not under contract, means he cannot participate in off season work outs that start in April. I'm guessing todays bad news is not going to help matters any

Tebow won't be the starter. Jets already said before the trade they were going to use him as a special situation QB. Remember Sparano is now the Jets OC and he brought the Wildcat to the NFL. I don't like the Sparano hiring either for the record. Sanchez needs to sink or swim and we keep giving him OC's that protect him with conservative playcalling. Not a fan of this move at all.

Jay Glazer said on NFL Network that he interviewed Payton immediately after the news came down, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s punishment is far more severe than Payton was expecting.
|
Quote:
“I did talk to him and he’s stunned to say the least,” Glazer said. “I think the entire team thought maybe there’d be a four-game suspension, but not a year. I said, ‘Are you OK?’ And he said, ‘No, I’m not OK.’ He is stunned. He’s going to lose about $8 million. He is beside himself here.”
|
Quote:
Glazer reports that Payton’s plan for the four-game suspension he had braced himself for was to have assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt take over as interim head coach while Payton served the suspension. But that plan is now out the window because Vitt has been suspended six games for his own role in the bounty scandal.
