He looked fairly good and seemed like he was having a blast. Loved how everyone cheered for him every time he touched the puck.

It was a close play and a weak hit.

It wasn't like Jones had a step or two on him and was run. It was pretty weak.

I think the best thing we saw from him is that he is not scared to go to the net, take on opposition much larger (and more experienced) than himself, and even muck it up if he has to.

For a guy who probably figured his hopes of seeing actual NHL action this year were quite slim, I was impressed with how in tune to the game he was.

The scoring will come, but after one game you would be difficult to question his intensity or even his grit.

Always nice to see a smaller guys playing with grit and going to the net. I really hope Sven keeps it up and I'm sure he'll make a legit impact whenever he makes the team under regular circumstances

I thought Sven looked great out there for a first NHL game. I'm looking forward to watching him play Sunday (I doubt the Flames get 2 guys back from injury before the road trip).

Really liked his game, has great speed and plays like a scorer. Still trying to decide if he should get a year in the AHL. I have no doubt he could make the team next year. I just don't want to rush him?

Last night really screwed up his 2 PPG pace. He's going to need to get 4 on Sunday just to get it back.

Too bad playing with Nemisz and TK probably ruined him forever

Preventable, sure, but still a brutally weak call. That was a game management penalty. The refs knew they hadn't given Winnipeg a power play yet, so chose to call it. It happens.

It is also a situation where you have a kid who's probably never played in a league with touch icing trying to finish the play.

When I look at that play, I see two things: A 19-year-old kid willing to go into the corners, and a league that needs to go to no-touch icing.

I was definitely impressed with his skill and speed, but I wouldn't hesitate to have him spend half a season to a full season in the AHL to work on his frame. I've seen smaller players make it in the NHL but I don't think he's quite ready to make the jump in terms of the speed of the game combined with the physicality.

I would have liked to see him get some time on the second-unit power play, but those jerks on the first-unit kept scoring so quickly, the second-unit didn't even get on the ice.

He played well , he had only 9 minutes of ice time and he seemed to create chances whenever he touched the puck. Glad we got a win for his first game

I agree. I remember when Perry and Getzlaf played that half season on the farm. They built up there confidence and were brought up when it was clear that they were elite at the minor league level.

I would much rather have him start the year down and be brought up, than have him start up and be sent down due to poor production.
