I don't see the Cards in on this at all. Yeah, they have Fitzgerald, but there's absolutely no running game there and that offensive line is atrocious. Playing teams with good pass-rushers like the Rams, Seahawks, and Niners 6x/year is not exactly a wise decision when you've got the kind of injury issues Manning has.

The Texans are certainly an interesting idea but I don't know what their cap situation is like.

Please Manning come to Miami! I don't care if it's a short stop gap. I need to see some wins, this last decade has been torture!!!!

Kolb is due a 7 million dollar roster bonus on the 17th of March. If they want to go after Manning...they'll need to be pretty sure they have him before next Saturday so they can cut Kolb. I don't think they'll find much of a trade market for him with the contract he has now.

Vegas has the odds of Peyton going to Miami at 2/1.

Here are the other team's odds if you want to make a prop bet

Would be pretty funny to have Rex Ryan and the Jets have to play a quarter of their games in a season against Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

I'm not sure how much stock I put into there being a front runner for him right now or Miami being 2 to 1 favorites. I think Peyton has played this entire thing pretty close to the vest and there's really nothing of substance out there to show a clear cut favor besides analyzing teams needs and cap space.

Speaking of odds, if you really want to take a longshot, here are next year's Super Bowl odds:

http://www.pinnaclesports.com/lines....20bowl%20xlvii

Packers and Patriots are again favourites at around 7/1

Giants have worse odds than the Eagles apparently (15/1 vs 11/1).

Rams, Bucs Browns, and Jags are the lowest at 170/1

Teams who have contacted Manning already include:

Arizona, Seattle, Washington, Miami, Seattle, Kansas City, Denver, and the Jets

Not really any surprises in there except for Denver, but I think that could just be Elway kicking tires. Supposedly Manning would prefer to stay in the AFC. Wth the Jets' cap issues, I think that pretty well narrows it down to Miami and KC.

Also, from the same link, the reason everyone hates the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys, however, aren't one of the 12 teams with interest in Manning.

Am I the ONLY one wondering if Peyton is one hit away from retirement? These teams going "all in" on Peyton could end up hurting them in the long run. That's why Miami makes sense becuase they don't really have an alternative at QB should they not puruse Manning.

Well that rule goes for any NFL player but you are telling me the chances aren't amplified for a QB who has had 4 neck surgeries and hasn't played a contact sport in over a year?

I think most of the teams in on Manning really have nothing to lose. I don't think any of them have a franchise guy that they're sitting on, and only a couple of them have high enough draft picks to get anyone decent in the draft. I don't really rate any of the QBs after Luck and RG3 as franchise solutions, although we're going to see Tannehill rammed down our throats for next month.

Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert says the Browns won't pursue Peyton Manning

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...hecker_11.html

He said the Browns like four quarterbacks in this draft, including the obvious top three of Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Ryan Tannehill. The fourth appears to be Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden, who's 28, because Heckert gushed about him.

But he emphasized that the Browns are still high on Colt McCoy and haven't made the decision to replace him.

Even though the Browns are up for anything with their No. 4 pick, all the talk about the Browns moving up to No. 2 to draft Griffin III "is crazy. We feel comfortable staying at No. 4 and getting a really good player. We feel comfortable moving back and getting extra picks too.''

I think Miami is in the perfect position to go after Manning. They're not giving up on a guy to turn to Manning (unless you count not signing Flynn instead) and they're in a position to pick up a QB later in the draft and have him develop under Manning. Who knows, maybe Henne can develop under Manning.

They have a solid, if unpredictable, no name defense. The O-line has been invested in quite heavily. Bush seems to be fitting in well at RB, and they have some young talent there as well, and they have a franchise quality WR in Marshall.

Ross is an owner who is very big into surrounding himself with stars, he's done it by selling fractional interests in the team to big names and now he gets a chance to do it with the superstar QB. I'd be very surprised if they don't go push very hard to sign Manning.

Yeah, but then look at KC:

- Most cap space in the NFL
- Very underrated offensive line
- Underrated defense that will be getting key players back this year (i.e. Eric Berry)
- One of the better home field advantages in the NFL
- Good coach/GM combo
- Playmakers at key skill positions (Moeaki, Charles, Bowe, Baldwin, Breaston, McCluster)
- Weak division
- Doesn't have to play Tom Brady 2x/year
- Doesn't have to play the Jets defense 2x/year

I think logistically and personally, Miami makes the most sense for Peyton. If he wants a better chance to win, he'll choose the Chiefs.

I think you can make a nearly identical list for the Dolphins, and I definitely don't think Manning will make a choice based on where his schedule would be easier.

Isn't homefield advantage basically non-existent in Miami? I also don't think Miami's offensive line is as good as KC's. I read somewhere that Miami allowed one sack for ever 10 dropbacks last year, which was most in the NFL. I'd also argue KC's defense is better with Hali, Johnson, Carr, Flowers, and Berry. Miami's secondary was awful last year.

And an easier schedule means an easier path to the Super Bowl. I think that's exactly something Peyton would consider.

You seriously think he's going to be making his decision based on things like crowd noise? Miami crowds are good when there's excitement around the team, as there obviously would be. I think the o-line stacks up just fine, sack statistics are a terrible indicator when you have a QB who defenses don't respect, who takes too long to get rid of the ball, and lacks mobility. As for the D, we'll see, neither team will be the same as last year.

As for the schedule, Manning has shown time and time again that he likes big games. Playing the Patriots and Jets twice would be a selling point.

If he is not in the AFC East, the NFL will try to match-up Peyton and Tom every year. Big ratings.

Not sure how they'd be able to do that, the schedule is determined by your finish the previous season and rotating intra-divisional matchups. The NFL doesn't have the ability to tweak the schedule to get the games it wants.
