So were Jake Long and Joe Thomas. Robert Gallery was a perfect example of Raiders drafting, based on workout numbers and not actual game tape.

Eagles have franchised Desean Jackson.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/76...desean-jackson

I know he had a down year but I think he's still one of the more explosive players in the league.

Still have my doubts, Jason smith is a bust too.

Expect to see a lot of guys given franchise tags today. Monday is the deadline, and teams will try to avoid becoming the Chicago Blackhawks of the NFL.

Cortland Finnegan not franchised by titans, will likely sign with the rams.

Perrish Cox not guilty. I doubt the Broncos re-sign him but someone will. Pretty good cornerback.

Strong rumours that Dashon Goldson will get tagged by the 49ers today. No surprise there, but negotiations are expected to continue; Goldson dropped Drew Rosenhaus as agent a few weeks ago and is now represented by the same agent as current 49ers Alex Smith, Aldon Smith and Patrick Willis, CAA.

It seems as though Manning/Wayne will sign as a duo.

Miami, Arizona, Washington, Seattle and Kansas City have been the rumored teams.

Stay classy, New Orleans.

According to the investigation, the players regularly contributed cash into a pool and received improper cash payments of two kinds from the pool, based on their play in the previous week's game.

Payments were made for plays such as interceptions and fumble recoveries. But the program also included "bounty" payments for "cart-offs," meaning that the opposing player was carried off the field, and "knockouts," meaning that the opposing player was not able to return.

Assuming this gets traction in the media, which it will, I would expect the punishment to be massive. This wasn't just among a few players, it was run by the D-coordinator with the knowledge of the head coach. With the way the NFL has sought to appear as coming down hard on dangerous play I could see Goodell taking away multiple draft picks.

This is gonna be a field day for Goddell. Many picks taken and fines to be done I assume.

Weren't there accusations of this coming out of the NFC Championship game against the Vikings? I wonder how this will affect the Rams with the Williams hiring. I think this actually could and should cost the Saints more than Spygate cost the Pats.

They're F'd

Quote:
"The payments here are particularly troubling because they involved not just payments for ‘performance,’ but also for injuring opposing players,” Goodell said in a statement released by the league. “The bounty rule promotes two key elements of NFL football: player safety and competitive integrity.

“It is our responsibility to protect player safety and the integrity of our game, and this type of conduct will not be tolerated. We have made significant progress in changing the culture with respect to player safety and we are not going to relent. We have more work to do and we will do it.”
Quote:
The report found that Saints head coach Sean Payton was aware of the allegations and did not make any inquires and failed to stop the program. The league also said that general manager Mickey Loomis at one time was directed to end the program when team owner Tom Benson was made aware of the league's findings, and he did not carry out Benson's directions.

I wonder what the bounty was on Payton when Graham broke his leg.

41 minutes ago - by Larry Holder

The NFL said the penalties for the Saints' bounty program could include fines and suspensions and, in light of the competitive nature of the violation, forfeiture of draft choices. It remains to be seen whether this will rise to the level of the Patriots' Spygate penalties. Bill Belichick was fined $500,000, the team was fined $250,000 fine and the Patriots forfeited a first-round pick.

The Saints already traded their 1st rounder this year to the Patriots.
