The key focus at this years draft should be finding a center who can keep up with Sven.
Then we need to tank badly in the last 20 games; like worse than Edmonton bad. Grigorenko + Sven = awww yeee.
At the pace we'll be about where Gaunce should be. If we truly sell by Monday and tank the rest of the season we could end up drafting high enough to snag Galchenyuk (I highly doubt it).
This year overall has been one of the better years for our prospects so far. Practically every WHL forward prospect we drafted is producing over a PPG and our Collage guys (Arnold and Gaudreau) are great young guys playing very well in Boston right now. Not to mention Markus Grandlund who is performing exceptionally well in his Finish league. Add this years draft which is suppose to be deep then we might be on our way to building a strong prospect group. Something we have not had in forever.

As of right now, we're probably gonna draft in the 12-14 slot again this year... I really hope Galchenyuk falls because of his injury, but I can see him getting taken higher than projected because someone wants to make a statement with him.

My personal list currently would be as follows:
1. Alex Galchenyuk
2. Jacob Trouba
3. Griffin Reinhart
4. Radek Faksa
5. Cody Ceci

Unless we draft a total "WTF" pick like Chucko or Pelech, I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever BPA we pick up... But just once I'd like a big skilled center to be donning the Flames jersey on Day 1. I wish Phaneuf was still on this team, but god damn does it get frustrating thinking that we passed on Getzlaf and Richards...

Yes, a rebuild wouldn't be necessary if he does reach that level.
Wait, I thought the answer to every team's problems is to tank it to last place in consecutive years? I sure hope Bartschi saves us from this terrible fate.
The only thread i love. our prospects are the only feel story of this year. im dang excited about Bartschi, Ferland, Reinhart, Arnold, Gaudreau, Brodie
Poor guy is going to be coming into a horrible environment, and have tremendous pressure on him.
I sure hope he doesn't get ruined by this group of poison players and coaches. There will be unrealistic expectations from fans and feaster already pumping him up as a sure thing next year.

Meh next year is a new year. Sutter will almost surely be gone and who knows what player changes will happen in summer.

If he gets 'ruined' by 'poison players' you'll be able to recall your statement and say "I told you so". What a downer you are!
I prefer to think a talented, enthusiastic kid might bring other players on the team up rather than have them bring him down.
This has been, up to your post, the only positive thread on CP for the last little while. Can I please ask that if you have negative thoughts on the topic of Sven that you consider not posting them?

A rebuild with a few 'been there, done that' vets (like Rhett Warrenner was) would be perfect.

Didn't say a single negative thing about the guy, not sure how I'm a Debbie downer.
There will be a lot of pressure on Hinton preform right away, he is our only legit top line prospect. After racking up the points this year there won't be much left for him to doin the whl so he's going to be a flame next year.
I'm trying not to put to much pressure on him but he looks too good right now. One of the CHL's top players and is leading his team well into the playoffs. I'm sure management will develop him well. Just let him play his game as well as teaching him some new things here then there and he will be fine. 87 points in 44 games. Me gusta.
