THe show is so controlled that it is not a true race anyway. What are the chances of all the groups always ending up so bunched up especailly in the end. In true race a team would probably win by a couple days or so.

That's exactly it. This was one reality show I was excited abot when I watched it last time, but watching the final episode you see how controlled it really is. In real life it probably would not come down to a foot race in the end.

Actually, I don't think it's as controlled as you would think.
The points of the race that seem to bunch the teams up, come mainly with tasks that have finite times associated with them-i.e. tourist attractions, flights, etc. These factors would be hard to manipulate, and don't need it. I don't think the organizers would want to, if they could, pay these facilitators to extend their hours/services, this allows the race to be more "Rat Race"ish, as in simply giving a destination, and letting them decide the best route.
The pit stops don't bunch the teams up, you leave the stop exactly 12 hours from the time you arrived, this would be the only real point the organizers could manipulate.
Sure, they might try to choose destinations that would naturally bunch the teams, but really, that shouldn't be nessasary, with the nature of a 9-5 world-most tourist oriented activities are 9-5, and flights are most abundant during peak hours (less at night).

Well we have to remember that this is first and foremost a TV show more than it is an actual race. It would not be good TV to allow Colin and Christie to be four or five days ahead of the next team/s, which in an honest race they should be, based on them completing the taks faster and catching good flights. It is much better TV to have every team together or damn close to it every show so tht every team has a chance to win or lose each show.
In reality teams should not have to wait five or six hours for attractions to open or flights to arrive. But this does bring up a point that always drives e nuts is when teams are a little bit slow and they begin to freak out. You know that there will be a time in each episode where basically every team is reunited and given a fair shake at every leg of the race.

This brings about a point of contention that I have with all of the CBS reality shows. It seems that it is better to be not the best but rather not the worst in order to win any of there reality TV shows.
Survivor: Early on if you are the best you are a target because people percieve you as being too strong for them to compete with. Therefore they often vote out the strong players. Later on if you are likeable people vote you off for being to hard to win in the final two. You also get voted off if you are weak which is okay but really it has often come down to someone who didn't so enough to p*ss people off by winning events or playing the game well and just did enough to stick around each week. i.e. Tina, Vesepia and Jenna
Big Brother: Same as survivor in that if you are strong you are voted off. The only difference here is that the weak seem to be able to survie way to long. i.e. this season with Diane, Karen etc.
Amazing Race: If you are good you really get very little in an advantage and this season actaully get targeted for it, i.e. Colin and Christie. There is noway they should not win this race. They won about five or six legs in a row and still had no advavntage based on the set up of the show.
Yes I watch way too much reality TV, I know this already. But the shows on Cbs show that you are punished for being the best which seems to go against everything the shows should be about.

I can see it now, the teams running through the airport and all these old white hatters running after them trying to welcome them to Calgary.

TORONTO -- The Amazing Race's final stretch will bring four couples to Canada as they compete for one (m) million dollars U-S.
In the two-hour finale of the reality T-V show, teams will race through Banff's Sunshine Village ski resort and visit the Olympic ski jump at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
In other episodes, competitors have danced in Buenos Aires, made bricks in India and wrestled on the outskirts of Manila.
The show features 11 two-person teams who follow clues and assignments from one city to another across the globe.
The last team to check in at the end of each show is eliminated.
The Amazing Race, which airs in Canada on C-T-V, won its second Emmy in a row last night for best reality competition series.

From the Calgary Herald this morning:
The last two legs of the most recent edition will see the four remaining teams race through Banff's Sunshine Village Ski Resort and Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
Production earlier this year in Banff and Calgary was shrouded in secrecy, and an advance copy of the finale was not made available to reviewers. Promos for the show, however, suggest that one of the teams lies to another team in order to gain a crucial lead. A 45-metre rope climb results in pain and exhaustion for several team members, and one racer reportedly suffers an emotional breakdown after a series of crashes on the final leg.

Well I guess it isn't all that bad that Chip and Kim won even though Colin and Christie deserved to win much more.
Chip and Kim seem like a nice couple, but Colin and Christie were way better at everything during the race. Funny to see that it was fog in Calgary that actaully was the reason that they were able to win.
