comics spoiler
Spoiler!
The characters have improved, but IMO they are still finding themselves, which isn't surprising given that we've only had 14 episodes so far.

The pacing is similar, and the 2nd season has been great IMO, but if you don't like the slower pace then I would wait until the entire 2nd season is done, and watch it faster. I watched a couple episodes yesterday during the marathon AMC had, and it's even better back-to-back.

Also, last nights episode was the highest rated of the series, over 8 million views.

Only five episodes left in the season! haha

So, do we think Beth got scratched or bit or what? I'm assuming she's got the fever and will be a zombie in the next episode.

^^Maybe it's gone airborne or something from them fermenting in the barn so long. Did it seem like a little fore-shadowing there to anyone else when that zombies arm fell off and Andrea picked it up...why show that unless there's some significance...maybe it's just me.

But at the same time I get a little germ-a-phobic handling raw chicken or pork. These guys are handling raw zombie all the time with BARE HANDS! THEN TOUCHING THEIR FACES!

i don't believe these Zombie spread by blood transfer its always bites so far in TWD series. It was kind of odd that they had that scene though so maybe there is more to it.

Early in the first season it seemed to be a concern for them, i.e. avoiding contact with zombie blood. This season not quite so much.. although the episode with the zombie in the well also points towards contracting by other means than being bitten.

A few thoughts about Beth.

- I watched the start of the first episode again. The guy who helps Rick right away asks Rick if he had been bitten or scratched. Maybe Beth got scratched.

- Maybe that's what the doctor from the CDC mentioned to Rick; something about the disease going airborn. It seems odd that in the bar when they were swapping stories about leads that didn't pan out, Rick doesn't mention the visit to the CDC.

But don't you think Rick would've taken those precautions by now. Especially in the barn massacre scenes, the well dwelling zombie, etc.

I'm glad you brought up the secret that the CDC scientist told Rick because something tells me it wasn't about his wife being preggers because I don't think Rick knew. Now I'm curious about what the scientist told him...

I actually think that scene has more to do with the nonchalantness of the their whole experience, or the change that has happened to Andrea and the rest of the survivors in their environment. While Merill and his family saw the people in the barn as people (or friends/family) our survivors see them as just walkers, and have completely dissociated themselves from their previous living.

A truly complex throw-away scene which shows what Shane opening the barn has done to our "heroes".

In the second episode of season 1 ("guts") they hacked open zombies and smeared the rotten entrails all over themselves so they could walk through the crowd of walkers undetected. I don't think they would do that if contact with zombie blood was a big concern. Pretty sure in this series (at least for now) you have to get bitten.

good point, forgot about that. My guess is that she was scratched trying to love her mother and the farm house people are to stupid to look behind her hair on her neck for scratch marks. She will be a Z in no time.

The opening scene for next week should be a benny hill chase scene with the Z loose in the house and it all ends when the Z gets killed by nail gun found in the tool shed.

Yeah, I concur.

I mean think about it... she picked up a dismembered human arm and tossed it into the back of a truck as if she was doing a city dump run and it was just an errant piece of refuse.

Totally a scene designed to subtly demonstrate how desensitized they've become in Walkerworld.

Yeah I don't think she is going to become a walker, I think she is just in shock because she isn't used to seeing that carnage.

Think about it she just saw like 10 'people' get killed and some were family members. That is the reason they put the arm scene in, to show the contrast between the group who has been through a lot vs the farm crew who have avoided the world and it's problems.

I don't think that deciding the well was contaminated had anything to do with fears that the zombie disease had become waterborne. More that there's a 200lb carcass rotting in the well, probably shouldn't drink that.

Shock doesn't cause a fever though. That girl was burning up. Probably going to get worse too. I'm willing to bet she did get scratched.

The virus going airborne would be a poor turn of events, I hope they don't do this otherwise everyone should be infected after turning that barnfull of zombies into a red cloud.

In the episode where Rick and Glen were trying to escape from the mall, they spread the walker guts on themselves and there was some line from Glen about being careful not to get the stuff on their skin.

Perhaps it's "Walking Dead" breaking their own zombie rules, considering the amount of blood the cast usually ends up soaked in. I am guessing it is just dramatic license in certain scenes.

Yes, it may be warm out. But there are also zombies. Good time to have the windows up and doors locked.
Woah, now, fellah. I won't have none of that criticizing the realism of a zombie show here.

You take that snake oil somewhere's else, ya hear!?

I would have liked if they strategically placed rakes all around the entrance of the barn and then had the zombies walk out into them.
