Calgary Flames prospect and Swiss standout Sven Bartschi came by to chat w/ me for 10 min. Told me he's feeling good. Might be out a wk.

He seems kind of injury prone. Hip injury and now this concussion already this year.
Could he be the next Ales Hemsky...?

A concussion doesn't make you injury prone. What would concern me is if he pretended he wasn't hurt and played through it all. That'd be a problem.
Baertschi plays with an edge. He'll get banged up from time to time. No concern from me on this.

Sven was disappointed that he didn't get to play more in front of the Calgary fans, but still enjoyed his experience at the World Juniors: http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=609969
Quote:
“I feel better. The last couple days I’ve made some progress, I skated yesterday with the team for about 30 minutes and it felt really good out there on the ice,” commented Baertschi, with a wide grin on his face.
Following a 2-1 relegation round loss to the United States in the Switzerland’s final game of the world juniors, Baertschi said he is unsure of the timetable for his return to the Portland Winterhawks.
In 25 games played with the WHL club this season, Baertschi has averaged over two points per game with 54 total (12g,42a).
“It’s always tough with your head. You never know, you have to do some testing first and you have to be 100% sure you want to go out there with the game, contact and everything.”

Haven't heard anything about him since the world juniors...is he still injured?

Nope he has been playing with Portland all January.
He has been at a ppg pace in January/February since returning from the WJHC.
Not as great as he was before but it was pretty unlikely he was keeping that pace up anyways so nothing to get concerned about.

How much of this has to do with his coming back from injury? To me this is a likely explanation for the slower pace.

no doubt the elite juniors can score at a crazy pace but he was well over 2pts a game there. A small regress is prob not an indication of much. Not uncommon for players coming back from the WJHC right into the dog days of the hockey season to slow down a little.
I dont watch him enough to comment on his game, but as long as the compete level is still there, and his happy go lucky grin, im sure everything is fine.

He has looked fine from what I've seen. It's just the pace him and Rattie were going and the placement of their stats was not going to hold. Rattie is a much more natural playmaker and Bartschi a gritty scorer, as oppose to their point pace, where Rattie was the trigger man with Bartschi and Morrow setting him up.

Is the Rattie/Bartschi chemistry so good that we should look into aquiring Rattie?

Based on cost and unlikeliness of getting him I would say no.
I don't think they have any special chemistry outside of being two very talented players.

Why? Bartschi is producing at slightly higher pace than Rattie.
Bartschi 1.88 points per game.
Rattie 1.74 points per game.
