As I said he admitted hitting her, he said he wasn't trying to kill her. Obviously if he wasn't allowed to read the confession that is sketchy, but it doesn't change the fact that he admitted and still admits to beating her.
What I think happened is him and his buddy both we involved, and now his buddy is MIA so the cops are putting it all on the Mexcian guy because they want to save some face.

So what we are to believe by the Mexican police is that scrawny joe safety vest was bopping down the elevator when in walks naked lady.
Conversation because who doesn't want to talk to young naked lady.
Screaming, punching.
Thats really the Police story, and lets not forget naked sleep walking.
Wow. I think they have been smokin their own Mexican red hair.
Not to mention they contridict themselves in this confession with safety vest and buddy were doing coke and weed or drunk.
Earlier saying hotel staff witnessed the Nabb women at the bar with another tourist.
The whole story is idiotic with holes of inconsistancy all over it.

Oh god... it was in at least one of them in the 29 pages of this thread. I won't go back and find the exact one, but a quick Google search yields this:
http://www.globalmaritimes.com/man+a...963/story.html
" The attack presumably happened as Quintero was going up to the 22nd floor. The elevator stopped on 6th floor, and that’s when Sheila Nabb stepped in. Mexican police say she was naked and that’s when he attacked her."
Presumably the security tape would verify this. I doubt they would risk lying about it and then have to show the tape in court.

The Mexican police should release the video if they really want effective damage control. Or to give CP what we want. Proof.

If people are bringing their pet seals with them on vacation to Canada, then they get clubbed while here, I could see a boycott. But really your examples are nothing close to the same.

Going on vacation condones the above ridiculous examples as much as going on vacation in Mexico condones the actions of the Mexican Government. That they sound ridiculous examples, is exactly the point, because what is quoted below is ridiculous.

And by continuing to support the Mexican tourism industry, you essentially condone the actions of the Mexican government, police and judicial system.

How else is it to be viewed?
Mexican authorities: Nothing to see here, country is safe. Tourist safety, highest priority. Look we even have someone to parade in front of the camera.
The only way you let the Mexican government know that it isn't acceptable is by voting with your $$.
Honestly needs a scum bag steve meme of the Mexican governor.
"Says tourist protection #1 priority"
"Sets up low level criminal to take the fall"
or
"Looks like a case of domestic violence"
"Husband cleared of all charges"

I've said it before(back on pg 4 or 7 or somewhere around there) and I'll say it again. There were basically no cameras at this resort. None on the elevators, none in the elevator corridors of the floors 2-22+. However, there may have been some on the Lobby level and the Lower/Beach Level floors. So, they probably have footage of the culprit walking into the resort from the beach side, and possibly entering and exiting the elevator(1 of 6) on the lower floors. And maybe even kicking her one last time as he was exiting the elevator.
My question is...where were her clothes?

Why should we A) Believe him when he says she was naked, maybe she was just wearing a bikini or something and he was so wasted he thought she was naked, and B) That he didn't kick her, or hit her with an object or ram her face into the elevator wall? The guy was high and wasted, not the best combo for remembering details.
Look, I am all for the conspiracy theory angle but what does the Mexican government have to gain by pinning this on a Mexican citizen who snuck onto the grounds? If anything that is the last thing they wanted, it would have been better for them if it was some idiot tourist from the resort. Having it being a Mexican citizen is bad for the tourism business, not good...And if you are trying to cover up the crime you pick something that will make you look better, not worse.
As far as I am concerned I think it is very plausible this guy did it. He admits beating her up, but says he didn't try to kill her, if anything I can see the police making him sign the confession saying he tried to kill her because they want to seem hard on criminals (when we all know it isn't true anyway). This dummy is the only person saying she was naked, nothing in the papers or the cops about her being naked...He was drunk and stoned and probably has a blurry vision of how the night went.
|
By pinnining on a mexican fast it makes it seem that the authorities are obviously on top of things and so it is safe there. Granted if the husband or the like confessed really quickly that would work too but they really can't beat seven shades of poop out of so that is unlikely.
It is also bad if the story lingers on, so if they arrest a gringo that is another year or so of trials and sentancing where the story is in the Canadian press for updates, the husband obviously would complain about being framed by the incompetant mexican police etc which is also bad press foor them.
No, from a mexican point of view getting some local schmoe to confess and the victim out of the country means the story is over. In three weeks time no one will even think about it as they plan their vacation.

Calgarian remembers Mexican suspect hitting on drunk women at resort
Quote:
MAZATLAN, Mexico — A Calgary tourist at the Mazatlan resort where Sheila Nabb was viciously beaten says he nearly got into an altercation with the prime suspect as the accused and his wingman preyed on intoxicated female guests at the hotel.
Michael Munro, 25, who stayed at the Hotel Riu two months ago, said a slight Mexican man and a stocky Caucasian friend spent several evenings at the resort, using what appeared to be fake wristbands to get in through the beach entrance in the late evening.
“The Mexican guy would prowl on any drunk girl. Whenever a girl was stumbling, slurring her words, he would be on it immediately. He was very aggressive,” said Munro, a Calgary nurse.
The Calgarian said he’s “100 per cent sure” the Mexican man he saw at the 24-hour hotel bar is Jose Ramon Acosta Quintero, accused of attempted murder in the attack on Nabb, a 37-year-old Calgary office manager.

Let me guess, the Mexican government is making this guy say all this to make the guy they have arrested seem even more guilty?
The Mexican idiot and his meathead Canadian buddy did it, no conspiracy.

a woman i work with figured that this mexican guy likely has to fear for his life from other mexicans due to the fact he has placed the entire tourism industry in jepoardy - i am guessing that he has little to fear......
the whole story is incredulous and full of holes and it is about time for it to go away.......although i think at some point the victim should make a statement outlining what she thinks happened
i think the bottom line is when you are in mexico you are in a foreign country where the officials can't always be trusted, be smart and you can enjoy some sun, food and get your drink on for a week for ~$1,700

That's a big thing right there. I can't count the number of tourists I have seen in Mexico acting like idiots and talking down to the locals.
They get off a plane, don't eat, start drinking sugary tequila cocktails, and think that they've been drugged because they get wasted so fast and their blood sugar is all out of whack. It's like so many tourists regress back to junior high as soon as they get there.

I think this Mexican guy is a real sleeze and preyed on drunk women but I still get the feeling from the evidence so far that he's not actually guy who beat up Nabb.
The Mexican authorities dragged him in for other reasons and scared him into signing a fake confession.

the guy admitted in front of dozens of journalists that he is the guilty party and went over the details. What's in dispute is whether he was coerced into signing a confession he did not read or write- that is all. Yes, if true, it was wrong for the authorities to do this, but this boils down to lawyer tactics in hopes that evidence of impropriety among the Mexican officials will lighten the sentence (or better)...
The statements that everyone makes about lack of evidence are a little odd- do people really think the general public have been shown every peice of evidence in this case? I guess people forget there is security camera footage
