I really wanted to try this game, until I find out I actually don't get to play as Superman, Batman, Joker, etc.
I like having a customizable character, but still...
I might buy it when they release another expansion pack (free).
This is just it. WB's wants a revenue stream but IMO that stream is already taken for Warcraft. I will not spend $20 or $10 dollars a month ever for the PRIVILEGE to buy a game at 70-50 dollars. IMO GFYS as I will only ever pay for a game and not a privilege to play it.
I really want to play this game. But this price it too steep. Hopefully the "pay for this online" crap dies. Or at least we do not get suckered into it anymore!
From the reviews I read it seems you can max out your character in the period that you get free with the game (30 days or 60? I forget), and there isn't really anything to do after you do that.
That's why I am waiting for more expansion packs (if I even do get the game) so I'll get more play time, but no way am I paying $15 more a month, not worth it.
Check the SW:TOR thread to see why that game'll be lucky to still have servers online after 18 months.
LMAO, I downloaded DCUO last night as my brother is playing it and told me its fun, its F2P now so I was just curious if anyone here is still playing it and what their thoughts are or if they quit....
And lo and behold, surprise!! Blaster86 is in a another thread dumping on SWTOR back in May, when all he had to go on was nerd rage filled forums and screenshots. ... wow.
I played it when it came out. It suffered from having a lot of cool stuff early on, followed by nothing... and a really crappy loot system and token system, and weird endgame class balance (that didn't really work).
It was fun for almost a month... then got stale in a hurry.

I was so disappointed that game was terrible. I had such high hopes. It was the same freaking thing over and over and over...
I almost bought the lifetime sub... I did buy a year. Played it a month, maybe... just kept expecting something new to happen and it didn't. Was so disappointing. Wasted IP.
I will never trust Cryptic with anything again. I also Bought Champions online... *sucker*

I had to walk away from my computer when I saw my avatar re-skin as my ship, and realized the spaceship stuff was the same as the walk-around-stuff. It was truly just skins and buffs tacked on to a bland, bland, character based MMO

It's only free to play if your time has no value. STO owes me money. What a sad, sad, game
As is the case with every MMO, even slightly decent ones.
Just read that STO and that entire crappy studio (Cryptic) was just sold to a Chinese company. It's really a shame how that game turned out to be so bad. I wonder how the original version by Perpetual Entertainment that was cancelled would have been. The description sure sounds alot better than the one we got. I refuse to pay money for subscription MMOs so I only played the beta but the game never evolved any differently from that and I'm glad I quit playing. I've always wondered what Perpetual's version would have been like. Supposedly, it was more realistic with your character travelling on ships, etc. instead of them just taking your avatar and changing the model to a ship and giving it buffs as you said. Stupidest part are the artificial time sinks like how they turned a "fast" concept like warp drive into "spend 25 minutes watching your ship travel to another planet"
Anyone download and play this game since it became F2P? I downloaded and just made my character. Going to try it out now, if I enjoy it I think I'll get the Star Wars MMO.

Please don't try and compare DCUO to TOR - completely different games. TOR is extremely polished and fun - DCUO is bland in every category.

Wasn't comparing the two, was just saying if I enjoy DUO I'll most definitely enjoy SWTOR. I'm not an MMO guy, way to slow paced for me and I love me some Skyrim/Fallout which are basically doing nothing most of the time, but MMO's seem to be even more "slow".

i just picked up TOR and am quite happy. if you've played the original KOTOR, you will like this no question. they play extremely similar, and it's exactly how i envisioned a Bioware MMO would look like
I forgot to cancel my recurring subscription... so even though I haven't played this game for months, I can now pay to not play it for a few more months!
