In one sense I suppose I should be proud that our legal system showed such flexibility to accommodate the 'unique' nature of the Occupy Calgary membership but I find I'm rather disgusted that our courts disregarded their own procedures and bent over backwards and allowed Occupiers to make a mockery of the procedure
Again, it would seem Occupiers are being granted more rights and greater latitude than the rest of us.
It's a joke. Why should I observe any bylaw? Why should I respect our legal system if it is so easily hijacked by nutbars such as those 'performing' at the courthouse today?
It's like I'm living in bizarro world.

It seems like Calgary got all the special occupiers. I haven't heard of any of this ridiculousness around here.

Just heard on CTV news that some people from Occupy Edmonton have moved in at Occupy Calgary. There are four and they have invited more to come.
They brought their own tents and money to help winterize the Calgary camp.

Enough is enough, we cannot stand idly by and let Edmontonian hippies invade the city.

There were six tents after they did the removal of unoccupied ones. That consisted of one info tent, one first aid station and 4 "resident" tents. Latest media report I heard said they are now up to about a dozen resident tents.

I can't wait until they get ruled against just as they have in every other city and their 'winterizing' is all for naught.

Here is to hoping, last thing I'd want is our city turn into the country's dumping group for this useless segment of society.

I think they already ARE trying the Chewbacca defence. It's the only argument that makes sense for...anything they're doing.

I will be incredibly pissed off if the city in any way foots any costs for these occupyer's to get public space.
That includes so called public forums, meeting spaces, city personal or even a bar of soap.
If they want these spaces or city facilitators they can pay for them like the rest of us would have too.
As an add on they basically declared the city park as their own when they invited the City to make an appearance there.
This would be an incredible failure on the cities part.
The only thing that is acceptable to me is to keep sending bylaw officers in to write fines and tickets for every single bylaw breech and enforce non payment of those fines and tickets when the tickets become due. To send bylaw officers in on a regular basis to inspect the camp site for safety and health hazards and issues, and for further damage to the park and then if the Judge grants the injunction on Monday to write a invoice to the occupy movement for the damage to the park to the tune of about $55,000.00 and when they fail to pay it to run them through the courts.

With members like Pincott and Farrel on city council I wouldn't be surprised.\
