From Calgary Herald.
No, they did actually, they gave you like a week's notice when they said "unoccupied tents will be removed". No, they didn't act in the initial 24 hours after the notice was posted, but they definitely did give you notice.
I think what you meant to say is "They didn't give us time to rally the troops to sit in tents during the action so we were caught with our pants down!".

These people are actually giving protestors a bad name. Comparing themselves to the Arab Spring movements is moronic to say the least.
They spout generic jingo's and then nod their head as if they've somehow said something incredibly new and bright, these people are the literal interpretation of those monsters on Sesame Street that sit around nodding and saying "Yup yup yup yupyupyupyupyupyupyup" all day.
The fact that the city allowed any new structures to be setup is a bit of a failure, at the very least as soon as a tent peg went into the ground a ticket should have been handed to them for $500.00, and the tents confiscated.
The Occupy Calgary and for the most part Occupy Canada is a protest built around a Seinfeild episode, its a protest about nothing.
They're a small minority trying to impose its idiotic will on a large majority, and that large majority contains the 99% that they think they're fighting for.
Siding with the city inside workers union which is one of the worst unions out there for the whole more pay for less work is utterly facinating though.
If they do march on the city, the city should move some "professional campers" in to take over the tents using the finders keepers losers wheepers rule.

While the message has always been convoluted, I think it's fairly obvious they're talking about the whole banking/bonuses/tax structure/corporate and government back-scratching/broken regulatory system environment. "Greed-based economy" is just how a person chose to describe it.

Poop in a park f%%k you're lame
Losers you give protests a bad name
Textbook jingo's is what you sell
You promise change and put the grass through hell
Chains on your tent got a hold on me
When not workings a prison that you don't want to break free
Oh! you think you represent the not one
No one can save you
The damage is done
Brown stained the grass, and you're to blame
you give protestors a bad name
(Bad name)
I rill my eyes and you play your lame game
You give protestors a bad name
(Bad name)
Hey, you give protestors a bad name
Paint your signs with ######ed quips
like ruining a blackboard with your finger tips
A Marxists dream, you act so sly
With your very first poop kiss the park goodbye
woah! you think you represent the not one
No one can save you
The damage is done
Brown stained the grass, and you're to blame
you give protestors a bad name
(Bad name)
I roll my eyes and you play your lame game
You give protestors a bad name
(Bad name)
Hey, you give protestors a bad name
You give protestors
You give prostestors
(Bad name)
You give protestors
You give protestors
(Bad name)
You giveprotestors
You give protestors
(Bad name)
You give protestors
You give protestors

Heard a woman on 660News complain that her fellow protesters didn't protect her tent and belongings while she was at the hospital. Turns out she's 7 months pregnant and yet still feels that being down at Olympic Plaza is the right choice - even though she's already had to go to the hospital once because she got sick.
GIVE YOUR HEAD SHAKE. YOU'RE 7 MONTHS PREGNANT!

Nice and quiet, without a fuss, no violence or confrontation - just as it was planned. Next step...

I have to give credit where it is due. Many would have preferred it done sooner, but doing it right is generally the best choice.

That would have been fine if they didn't allow new structures to be setup.

Actually, it is a quietly brilliant plan.
More tents = more people = more fines to pay for the repair of the park. It also boosts the economy as people buy new tents to take down.

That's assuming two things A) The City actually starts issuing fines for the tents B) The squatters actually pay the tickets.

Personally I doubt that we'll ever see fine one paid by these people.
Even though I would like to see bench warrents issued for them when they don't pay.

Ironically, even Wall St. firms pay their fines.

that would then be corporate greed...and so far from how the economy is based, its assinine.
Part of the problem with this whole movement is the lack of any idea of what they are protesting for sure. This kind of statement just exemplifies that, and may be as big a part of why they have no support elsewhere.
"What are you protesting?"
"stuff"
It's embarrasing.

He has made a mistake on this issue. No one is perfect and in the end if the pluses are more than the minuses then people will vote for him.
Him berating Gorde Lowe and Dru Farrell for me is easily more important to me than him not kicking some homeless b!tchers quick enough out of a Park that most Calgarians only visit in summer.
