Start a grassroots movement that embodies all the wishes they have, form a political party as that is the ONLY way any change will come, and get busy gathering donations and finding qualified people to represent themselves to the masses.
Do that and I am on board.

That's exactly the problem with the whole movement, it may be well intentioned, it may be attainable, heck it may be exactly the reform that our capitalist society needs. However, they seem to think the work will some how do itself.
- List all the problems in the world
- Raise Awarness (though protest)
- ?????
- PROFIT! (in forms of a better future)
It's like the whole movement has decided step two is enough and they don't understand why it's not working. I dunno if they thought the government and big business would read their list & declare "Yes, this all makes perfect sense, we'll get right on it!" or what, but yeah, they've long ago lost the plot.

That list is impressive sounding. That was all fluff and no substance. Just like the rest of this misguided movement.

From my own observations I would agree with that. They are the ones I feel the most for.
I think in some ways they are being used as pawns by others.
They are being used by what I will call the 'career activists' that are at the camp. (Tavis Ford / Aaron Doncaster)
And they are being used by the key organizers who have never even stayed at the camp; Grant Neufeld, Joanne Costello, etc.

The fact that you even know their names is hilarious. These are nobodies.

Personally I understand and empathize a lot more with the American occupy movements then any of the Canadian ones.

What's hilarious about it? She is involved in civic politics, and when one does such work it hardly unusual to know the fringe elements in a case like this.
pretty goofy comment.

I know a couple of those names too - just from working in news for a few years...you see the same names pop up over and over again. I agree with T99 - not sure why anyone would find that unusual.
There are folks that pop up all the time when it comes to this stuff. Merle Terlesky is another one - though he would certainly not be on the side of the occupiers.
Point is - if this is the world you are working in - you get to know the names in the crowd just like any business or industry.

You need every post made by First Lady to be supported with signed documentation in triplicate. It is a little ridiculous how a post talking about common civic activists in Calgary, whom are familiar to several other posters, needs to be supported by physical evidence. Your shtick is wearing thin.

Your post was implying setting a precedent about knowing fringe elements in cases like this.
I would like to know other examples of when this was the case. They way you said it is that it is commonplace.

Are you actually asking him for proof that someone who is involved in civil politics might know the names of protestors who are also involved in civil politics?
Would you also like proof that I'm familliar with several other engineers in town?

What's bold about saying that someone in politics would know the names of people who are frequently involved in civic issues? That's a no brainer.
