But that's kinda my point...he was dumb enough to do an interview and he was dumb enough not to do it with a reporter who'd do a pre-screened interview.

Well, the usual rule of thumb for a criminal case is shut up and make the prosecution prove EVERYTHING. Often, the defendant doesn't even testify. Sandusky went on TV and admitted that, yep, he showered with young boys, and that he wasn't exactly sure he wasn't sexually attracted to them.

I was creeped out listening to his interview. Something tells me he got off on talking about it and was probably living his fantasy all over again.
This creep should be released into the prison while the guards turn a blind eye.

Honestly, if you aren't reading Grantland, you are missing great stuff, and not just on PSU, even though this is a blunt and brutal article.

That's an interesting take on it, I never considered that. The issue is that enough victims have come forward that any move meat to silence the rest is really pointless. Like Vlad said doing this interview is nearly equivalent to him taking the stand at trial, and you'd be hard pressed to find a competent criminal defense attorney who would advise a client to do that in a case like this.
The public has already decided he's guilty, and they have plenty to base that on, all this interview did was let him add a series of chilling quotes to the mix.

I think he will be taking the stand at the trial because I suspect he has a very dominant personality and will try to use that to his advantage in front of a jury.
Whether the interview was successful - I don't think it was. A calculated risk that I think went in favour of the prosecution.
oh, and one more thing, it is possible that the interview wasn't supported or advised by the legal team. It wouldn't be the first time a client ignores a lawyer's advice and does something that materially hurts their position.

Honestly...insanity plea????
It is starting to really look like he started this boys group to have whores to plunder for friends and .....
PSU.....Pedo School Unlimited.
And considering that I have 2 relatives studying there...absolutely sickening. This guy is looking like a greater monster than any serial killer.

"Is it possible that Jerry did all these things that he's accused of? Of course."
That's probably not what Sandusky was hoping to hear his lawyer say on the Today Show, but, thankfully, it looks like his lawyer is incompetent.

What happens to Paterno in all of this? He's let off for doing the bare minimum?

Paterno will be dragged through the mud the same. Watch the civil lawsuits come out of this.
I hope they all get destroyed.

?
I have no idea what you are talking about. I was trying to make some sense into a high risk and unusual move by the defence team. I have no idea where an insanity plea would come out of this or what I said.

Based on what we know, Paterno didn't violate any laws. I'm sure there will be civil suits against him, but I think more facts are necessary to really predict whether or not he'll be found liable. For example, if McQueary's email to friends saying that he talked to police about what he saw is true, Paterno may not have had any reason to go to police to re-report the same incident with an extra degree of separation. On the other hand, if Paterno know what Sandusky was doing but swept it under the rug, he'll almost certainly be found civilly liable. As much as the media hates to admit this, we'll have to wait and see.

It was sarcastic comment by me....
Basically, looking at the video, and the best I can come up with for someone thinking that was a good idea....are they insane? or looking for and insanity plea?

Dude, you just refered to the victims as whores. If you don't see the problem with that then you need to get your empathy processor replaced because the one you're using is clearly broken.

It's already hard too trust people nowadays with kids and everything then this happens at a major university and it's swept under the rug. So many people in the position of power do nothing. It's shameful because there really are good people out there that do things the right way and want too help kids, but 1 person like this will always plant that sees of doubt in your mind.
A head coach who spends more time then anyone in the offices at the campus/field should have seen something was wrong and done something. Paterno should be jailed as well and removed from NCAA history books.

I believe his attorney was present during that interview. From what we've seen out of him so far he appears to be highly incompetent.
This email for McQueary is interesting, he claims he went to the cops when he witnessed this back in 2002. If that's true this is an even greater cover-up.
