The day I can afford a G37 coupe I'm getting one. I just think that's an awesome looking car. Very happy with my 2 door Kia Forte, though. Just shined it up today.
Looks good, Acey! Love the look of the white body with the black wheels. Thanks for sharing!

The all-electric Dolorean ('DMCEV') is planned for commercial production in 2013
At the annual international delorean owners event in houston texas, Delorean Motor Company (DMC) presented a prototype electric model of the iconic vehicle, called the DMCEV and planned for commercial production in 2013. The company is collaborating with electric vehicle manufacturers epic EV to realize the project.
In the Dolorean, a DC-type electric motor with front-weighted battery achieves 0-60mph (0-100km/hr) in 4.9 seconds, with an alleged top speed of 125 mph (201 km/hr). DMC plans to offset the extra weight of the electric systemby manufacturing the vehicle's underbody with a lightweight resin-infused composite.
Rumors estimate the price of the car at 90,000 to 100,000 USD.

While I'm appreciative of the fast cars as anyone, if I'm honest with myself I really am not a high end driver, but something with a bit of oompf is nice. But I know comfort is still important, I don't think I'd like a hard riding sports car with 20" wheels to drive day in and day out, as much as I'd like to pretend.
Personally, I think the Infiniti G series sedans might the choice for you. They have great performance, relatively good style, offer less hassle in terms of upkeep than the Germans, and probably better resale value in the end. You mentioned not wanting anything hard-riding, so I assume comfort means a little more to you these days, which the Infiniti does well while still offering a good driving experience. Plus it comes in AWD with a manual in Canada from what I recall....something you can't get down here in the US.
It's the car for the guy who wants a solid driving car, but doesn't really need the flash of a german import. It's a nice alternative to all the BMW and Audi's out there.

Plus there's a TON of used ones out there, and even ones with only a few thousand clicks can come in at under $40k.
Unfortunately I have to get an automatic, the wife wants to drive it from time to time and she's tried learning to drive a manual before and it didn't go very well lol.. I tried teaching her once and after that we opted for lessons.
The only thing I don't like about it is that there's so many out there, it feels so.. bland (and I like the styling on the G37 Sedan).
But maybe best choice for now, and then next time around I can afford the truly flashy car I want.

An electric DeLorean sounds kind of crazy to me. Most electric cars have bodies made of plastic/composites, etc. to reduce weight to increase efficiency and to offset the heavy batteries.
The DeLorean is a super heavy mass of stainless steel.
Unless they invent Mr. Fusion as well, I'm not sure how useful this car will be. That said, the DeLorean and KITT were my dream cars back in high school. It's nice to see the DeLorean get an updated interior though.
I was driving up Shag yesterday and saw a fat biker looking dude with a goatee and oakleys driving a black Ferrari 458 Italia who just gunned it up the hill. Arrgh! Jealousy!

His hopped up F-350 diesel with big tires and truck ballz must have been in the shop.

If you're looking for something more unique, one other option is the Saab 9-5 (or 9-3's as well). You can get amazing deals on them at the moment because of all the trouble the company is going through.....if you're willing to risk a little uncertainty (and let's face it, Saab's doom is probably only a matter of time), you can get a great car for the price.

Great looking car. I really like the styling of those.
Working on them is fun, but I do not miss the issues with them. Vapour problems, freezing, poor cold weather drivability etc. Fuel injection is one of the best things to happen to the auto industry.

The biggest achievement in my auto repair career, was completely rebuilding a Mazda 12A rotary on my 82 RX-7, with nothing more than a Chiltons manual, and 600 bucks worth of parts from the Mazda dealer when I was 17. A guy down the street bought that car from me, and it ran for 11 years on that rebuild. I always wondered why the Wankel engine never caught on.
It never caught on because it is simply not a thermally efficient engine. Combine that with the fact that they have a habit of burning oil even when new, and making them meet current emissions standards is very difficult. Sad really because it's such a neat and simple design.

It made so much more sense than piston engines, and if the same amount of time an research went into it, it would have been amazing what could have been achieved with the rotary concept.
Ultimately, the piston engine is just better overall, I don't think any amount of research and refinement of the rotary would change that. I did own an RX3 for a short time, that car was a blast to drive, the engine would rev to insane degrees.
Any opinions on Mercedes? I went to sit in a Jaguar XF this morning to see and they had a Mercedes C300 on the lot, which seems about what I'm looking for. Smaller than my Passat but not too small (i.e. still room in the back for real people), AWD, decent power, looks nice, not as many of them on the road as G37 Sedans or BMW 3 series..
Plus the price range is much more manageable than the Jag (obviously it's a very different car).
Anyone know about MB dealership quality in Calgary?

if i lived in a place that didn't get snow, i'd buy a Challenger in a heartbeat. but since we have to deal with winter, i'll probably end up going in the same direction as Photon when i get a new car
