I can't believe Palmer is starting on Sunday vs. KC. How do they expect to win when Palmer hasn't become accustomed to the playbook, the audibles and philosophy of the Raiders offense?

Two words: Kyle. Boller.
It won't be the full playbook and with KC's run defense and Run DMC, Palmer will likely be asked to throw less than 25 passes.

Good point in regards to Kyle Boller, I dont think he would start in the CFL. Still, I look at the fact that Palmer not being at any training camp, not knowing the plays, etc as a major concern. I would rather have Boller out there to hand off to DMC or Bush, and let him though 5-10 passes and hope Janikowski kicks five 55+ field goals. I think the fact that this is a divisional game has put a lot of stock into the decision to start Palmer too.

it would not surprise me if he's had the playbook for a month and a half.

He was a WR coach there from 04-06 according to Wikipedia.

You do realize the Oakland team that dominated their division rivals 6-0 and the team that is 4-2 and very easily could have been 5-1 is comprised of drafted players. I would hardly say they are busts. Russell was a complete joke but Al Davis has scored on plenty of current draft picks.
These are are all drafted starters for the current Raiders drafted by Al Davis. Not depth players Starters.
DHB WR
Louis Murphy WR
Jacoby Ford WR
Denarius Moore WR
Chaz Schilens WR
Myers TE
Veldeer LT
Wisniewski LG
Campbell RG
DMC RB
Bush RB
Houston DT
McClain MLB
Branch SS
Huff FS
Chekwa CB
Van Dyke CB
Janokowski K
Lechler P
The Raiders have one of the youngest teams in the NFL and now they have a leader at QB.
You are right it is a good deal for the Raiders but not because they would burn the picks.

Not to mention Al Davis has drafted more HOF players than any single person at 20.

Is Heyward-Bey really that bad? He was a serious reach at that spot in the draft, but this year he's been much better. His numbers are better than Michael Crabtree this year.

The trade between the lions and eagles has been voided. Injury concerns with Harrison

The Raiders start 5 WR every game?
That list is hardly impressive....terrible argument.

I hate when people say could have very easily been 5-1. Easily how? They lost that game. Stop working in the world of what ifs. They are 4-2. If it was easily done then they would be 5-1.

Trade has since been voided due to Harrison failing his physical, as I'm sure most on here heard yesterday. New developments have since come out today though. The reason he failed his test is because during the physical, they detected a brain tumour. This trade may have saved his life, as he may have not had the physical otherwise.
Scary stuff for Harrison, hopefully he can make a full recovery.

Yeah, I think I saw that list but as you said, Al didn't draft them all.
And I'm not sure how much influence he has when he was with the Chargers - he had a lot of roles but I'm not sure how involved he was with the final decision who to draft.
And even then, it is 50 years of drafts he has been involved in - only Mike Brown may come close to having a chance to be involved in that many and if they didn't own the team then they probably couldn't have amassed those records.

Speaking of Rex Ryan, the guy needs to shut up on the podium. Listen I get it, you're an NFL coach and you've had some success. But saying you would win a couple of rings if you were coaching a different team is completely uncalled for and an unclassy move. Focus on how you are going to win your game next week, not on your own personal agenda.

How would you feel as a player if your coach said "I'd have Super Bowl rings if I coached a different team"? Stupid, stupid thing for Rex to say

Actually it's not the same at all. Rex is making a prediction that his team is going to win. He doesn't ever say "oh our team should have won that game".
