I have made an appointment with the Apple Store as my phone entered Recovery mode last night while updating and will not come out of it. I have tried everything possible that I know how. The Computer does not even recognize that a device is connecting via the USB. I have also tried connecting on multiple other PC's/Mac's with similar issues. My phone is a Glorified Coaster atm. I am not sure what apple can do for me on this, but it is a Work phone and I am very disappointed that simply installing a new iOS has caused my phone to not work.

I thought there was supposed to be a button on the lock screen that takes you directly to the camera app? No such thing on my phone. Is there a setting to turn it on?

Anyone got an update from fido yet, on when your spot in line with get the 4s? Being 1313 I'd imagine I'll have to wait a bit.

double tap the center button and on lock screen you will see camera button

Don't get me wrong, its a nice feature that has long been needed, but coming from jailbroken lockscreen apps (LockInfo, etc), Apple's implementation is pretty weak. Virtually nothing can be customized, (I don't consider the options provided to really do anything).

To be fair, they took the existing system and rewrote it, without breaking compatibility with the existing notification API. You'll see increased functionality in future 5.x releases, I'm sure - there's no way, now that we've seen stocks and weather in the notification area, that they won't open this up eventually.

Try doing a DFU reset.

You can also try TinyUmbrella. Not sure if that will help since it is not even seen in windows. It is a free app that has a button on the home screen to Kick it out of Recovery or DFU Mode.

No real information coming out about tomorrows launch. My guess is the employees don't even know what's going on. Apple's veil of secrecy is cool at times and frustrating at others. If the phones don't make it to Rogers outlets tomorrow I'll feel so bad for those poor employees. They'll be torn a new one by the sheep.

My 4S showed shipped this morning. Not holding out much hope that it will reach New Brunswick by tomorrow but maybe.

From the "How in the Hell Did That Happen" department:

I left my computer on today, with iTunes on. When I got home from work, wi-fi syncing was working (as in, the iPad and iPhone showed up in iTunes while not docked).

I didn't change any settings from last night. So it seems it might just take a while for it to start working.

Lol I just checked my iTunes, and my iPhone is there even though it isn't plugged in too!

So I hit Sync just to see, but I didn't have Wi-Fi turned on on my iPhone, iTunes said "Looking for iPhone" for a while and then gave up and removed it from the list.

So now I'm back to square one lol.

Figured this is a good of thread as any to post this in, if not I can create a new thread.

My mom recently had a problem with her 32gb iPhone 3Gs and in a knee jerk reaction ordered a 4s through Bell. Today the problem fixed itself, and she can't cancel the 4s order, so needs to wait for it to come and send it back, so is considering other options, including keeping the new phone and selling the old one. Is $200 a decent price to expect to get for a 3Gs (about a year and a half old) or is the expectation that the market for them drop out even lower?

The other option, of course, is selling the 4s which is locked to Bell. Is it reasonable to expect to sell it for full price or does the fact that is is locked to Bell reduce its value too much?
