You mean the 48,000 PC Party members? Albertans decided nothing.

You decided which party was in power - not who the leader of the party this is in power is going to be. Those are the basics of our parliamentary system.

Redfords first move as premier: to delay the sitting of parliament. It will not be until February that the legislature returns after a 9 month vacation. Nice gig if you can get it, I guess.

Meet the new boss.....

So, our leadership battle is going to be girl-on-girl then?

Pretty sure Alberta isn't invited to that party.

Cool, you're right... I have seen versions with Alberta in it, however.

How the ###### does the Premier delay the sitting of Parliament ?!?? Did she fly to Ottawa and stage a sit-in?

Here's a question: How does everyone feel about having a female Premier? Also, how do you feel about the fact that our next premier will liekly be female as well, given the heads of both the Wildrose and PC Party are female?

Who cares? As long as they bring good ideas their genders don't matter in the slightest. Women are just as capable as men are.

I'd vote for a spider if it had the best political platforms.

Why would anyone (or at least any rational person) care? I don't care that our mayor is a muslim or doesn't have white skin, I don't care that our next Premier is a woman (or if the Liberals somehow win a non-white man), and I don't care that our Prime Minister is a middle-aged white man; I just care about their policies, ideas, and how good a job they do.

I would care if Raj was the leader. That guy scares me a bit.

Honest question, honest answer.....

Despite the fact that we're all rednecks and are supposed to be upset, I couldn't care less.

The Premier's gender matters as much as my skin color. Let's see if she's competent.

Just wondering if the new-found tolerance and acceptance we seem to have is being pushed at all with an all-woman slate for premier. I myself have no problem with it, just wondered what the larger group thought! Like was said, as long as she gets Calgary more than it's fair share, I am happy

As an example, a wealthy citizen in New Brunswick, a so-called "have not" province, pays more into equalization than a poorer citizen in Alberta, a so-called "have" province. However, because of Alberta's greater population and wealth, the citizens of Alberta as a whole are net contributors to Equalization, while the citizens of New Brunswick are net receivers of Equalization payments.
Wow...that is awesome. Using the passage word for word from wikipedia without citation. By the way, why did you cut off the sentence before your quote?

Equalization payments do not, technically, involve wealthy provinces making payments to poor provinces, although in practice this is what happens, via the federal treasury.

Bottom line is net outward flow is massive.

I don't disagree - but it doesn't change the fact that poor Albertans receive transfer payments from rich Quebecois. It just so happens that we have a lot more rich people who pay out than poor people who pay in.

Not likely at all. The number of 'rich' Albertans hugely outnumber the number of poor Albertans. And that's why we not only pay for them, but most of Quebec's poor as well.

I wish you could figure this out. It's nto that complicated.

It's not by province, it's by CANADIAN. It just so happens that more rich Canadians, who have to pay for poor Canadian's services, live in AB.

Outflow >>>>>> Inflow

Looking at taxes and other moneys paid against the value of goods and services provided by the feds nets out to an outflow of about $250 billion since 1961.

I would be all in favor of a female leader for the R of A.

Whoa whoa whoa. You can never trust a Spider.

I guess you could call me an Anti-Arachite, but that is just asking for trouble.
