I'm going to have to hit up the patio at the Den before the good weather is gone. Lots of good times on that patio.

Locke: I wish I could organize a CP den meet up but unfortunately I can't even get into the den until November.. Why is the den bad for watching Flames games? I don't think it will be an issue for me taking school to seriously with the schedule I have, only 4 days of classes woo!
Malcolm: Which courses are recommended to take during summer? I've heard that some are a lot better/easier to take over summer and some are a lot harder.
Cecil: You won't have to worry about me being one of those suit wearing ######bags, because I hate wearing suits and getting dressed up. I'll be the guy wandering around campus hungover as hell with a coffee in my hand.
I've already seen some of the weirdo arts students because I went to the summer orientation thinking it was mandatory . There was a girl with blue hair and a stuffed dinosaur who was walking around hitting people with it.
Few questions: Who is Ryan Lee? Who is a good prof for junior English? (My brother had some asian guy and said it was horrible). And I'm currently enrolled in PSYC 203, but my brother used his university lingo that I didn't understand and said something about 205 being the only one that counts?

Ryan Lee is the associate dean for Haskyane, who went to Las Vegas to get his degree and is your typical pompous America-taught jackass.
He's also an RMIN prof from what I remember.
Short synopsis of a very long experience I had with him, he once tried to bully me into a 'confession' of academic misconduct, one in which I took no part in and when he threatened to expel me in hoping to achieve his goal I told him to show me evidence or proof of any wrongdoing, all he did was laugh show me out the door, only to send me a 'formal' letter denouncing proof could be found in the matter.
There's a lot more to the story, but yeah he's a d-bag.

Seriously? Weak sauce. Well, at least you'll be good to go for St. Patricks' Day, that is a serious U of C event.
The Den sucks for hockey because they have few TVs, they are small, they only get channels that the civilized world have long since forsaken, and they never play the sound.
Trust me, Moose McGuire's is the way to go. Know the Moose. Love the Moose.
Here I am, in a thread asking for U of C advice and I'm telling you every bar within a 10km radius. That was mt University experience.
The Kilkenny is also good, but expensive, but if you're in group projects you'll get a few people who want to go there.
They're building a new Jamieson's near there too.
Oh, and you dont have to take school too seriously, but watch out. I found the first two years were an absolute breeze and then in the third year when things got real I got into real trouble getting the motivation back. So theres a heads up for you.
Someone else organize a U of C meet then!

Wow really? That's crazy. I just don't understand how someone as big of a d-bag as him became associate dean, it seriously tarnished and good will I had of Haskayne leaving university as this happened literally my last semester of attending.

Mine was second to last semester, I was basically on the home stretch and doing a victory lap and I got the same crap.

Being on the radio is so cliche. The fun you think you're having is totally insincere. Hopefully a week or two after this event you just got on with your life.

I wish I wasn't lazy and put up a real stink about it to the U of C, to someone who'd listen. If anything that was my mistake.

I had Ryan Lee for my RMIN class. I remember the first day of class I realized I hated the prick. He explained to us that he was using his 5th Blackberry (or some similar ridiculous number) in the past few months. Then he said "When you get to my financial position, you just go buy a new one and don't even think about it". Extremely arrogant thing to say in my opinion.

Man oh man...some of the euchre marathons that I had in the ol' Elbow Room. I was pretty much a fixture there from 90-96! Perhaps we even had a match in the past....Oh that and Robotron.
As for these days...nfc! have fun!

Believe me, I heard all those stories going into my meeting with him, I just figured there would be an ounce of professionalism involved with a discussion as serious as we were about to have...nope, the answer is no.
I remember being really nervous while he hounded me for 20 minutes, and by accident I called him Ryan instead of Dr. Lee (which I'm pretty good about usually), he berated me for 5 minutes on how disrespectful it is to call someone by their first name and not an appropriate designation they've worked their entire collegiate lives to earn unless we're on personal terms. Seriously? D-bag.

Wow this guy sounds like the biggest ###### in the universe. Maybe that's why I have such a bad impression of Haskayne students.
This guy is creating an army of obnoxious business students to follow his ######y lead. Although from what I'm reading here he isn't too popular. And I shouldn't paint all Haskayne kids with the same brush. I have a fairly limited experience.

Hahahaha, I had Ryan for a professor in my RMIN 317 class. He was charismatic to say the least. Atleast he attempted to make Risk Management and Insurance sound fun.
I remember in that class, I was doing decently, and then decided to not study for the final in December, I don't really remember why. In a very hilarious, and unspurprising result, I didn't do so well, and my GPA dropped.
For some reason, I just didn't care.

Ryan Lee reaffirmed that it seems sometimes the most charismatic people are the biggest d-bags.
Thanks Ryan, you provided me something at least.

By the way, the suit thing... wasn't it the CPMT guys walking around Haskayne pulling that crap? My friends and I made fun of them relentlessly for the entire five years we were there.
Funny enough, I still see half of them walking around downtown, looking exactly as they did five years ago, grouping together in entourages with their hands in their pockets and trying to act all GQ. It was funny five years ago, and it's still funny now.
One time I was at Hudson's in May, and my buddy and I were hitting on two hot chicks, and these two guys in suits come up to the table and are like, "we hear these two dudes work in architecture - why don't you ditch the losers and come hang out with guys with real jobs, we're investment bankers!" I just started to laugh, and then I laughed even harder when one of them flipped out a money clip and pretended to count his money. The chicks laughed at them too, and told them to buzz off. Apparently, acting like a egotistical ###### flashing your money around WASN'T what interested chicks. Go figure! Funny thing is, I'm sure these guys were from Haskayne and they probably didn't even know that I went there too.
While at Haskayne, I did wear suits, but only to presentations because it was required. By my fifth year, I was wearing sweatpants and unwashed shirts because I found that even if I got lazy in the way I was seen in public, I still got pretty good marks. So I just gave up trying to dress like a 'business' student, and pretty much stopped taking notes all together.
I know people used to be all gung-ho about wearing the suits, and about these 'mock interview' things, and all that stuff, but man... that was one of the biggest things that pissed me off about Haskayne the most. Plus, the overachieving wankers that proclaim their 4.0 GPA to everybody and brag about going to Harvard or law school afterwards. Those types were aggravating to have to constantly be around.

On the topic of d-bags, I'd like to throw in two profs: Martin Mintchev and Apostolos Kantzas. Mintchev is one of your stereotypical hardass profs. I'll admit, I'm not an electrical engineer myself, but I walked into one of his lectures and wanted to ask a question, but fumbled it a bit with his death stare on me. His response? "I'm offended. Please shut up or leave the room". He's good at making you remember stuff (I still remember what he was teaching in the lectures I walked in on and how to apply it despite it not being my major), but he's so unpersonable that it's half taken back because when he talks (and expresses a great deal of arrogance and intimidation) or looks at you (and probably is the only person IMO who intimidates you more than Regehr's stare of death), EVERYBODY in the class simultaneously browns their pants.
Kantzas is a much more straight forward example. He just doesn't care and hands you problems with solutions and no explanation to the solution. It's so bad that he doesn't even write the midterms (gets his TAs to do it)...then recycles them for the final (and completely forgot that he did).
