Had them dead to rights.

A
Quote:
15-year-old camper named Elise said she heard gunshots, but then saw a police officer and thought she was safe. Then he started shooting people right before her eyes.
"I saw many dead people," said Elise, whose father, Vidar Myhre, didn't want her to disclose her last name. "He first shot people on the island. Afterward he started shooting people in the water."
Elise said she hid behind the same rock that the killer was standing on. "I could hear his breathing from the top of the rock," she said.
She said it was impossible to say how many minutes passed while she was waiting for him to stop.
At a hotel in the village of Sundvollen, where survivors of the shooting were taken, 21-year-old Dana Berzingi wore pants stained with blood. He said the fake police officer ordered people to come closer, then pulled weapons and ammunition from a bag and started shooting

Not in this century or last, for that matter. Your statement is not borne out by fact.

Unreal stuff, what terrible news.
And to think, this morning my biggest concern was getting good seats at Captain America.

According to the news this evening. There were 500 teenagers at the island camp. He gathered them together, saying it was route inspection. Once they had gathered he pulled out multiple weapons from a bag and began to fire.

Not sure if this has been posted, came from someone I follow on twitter.
Facebook note posted by someone who was at the camp, and translated to English.
Quote:
"The worst day of my life"
I´m still in shock. Just got home. Prableen´s dad drove us from Sundvollen Hotel.
I´m actually still in shock. I can´t shed a single tear. I can´t believe it: Today I actually almost got killed. Hunted and killed.
What can I say? The last normal thought in my head was about the AUF´s organization of students. I had just been to a political workshop (that´s what we do at Utøya) – and was on my way up tp the AUF-shop where I was going to take a shift.
A good friend came over and informed me of the explosion that had happened in oslo. Sick! The Government-block and Youngstorget?! Of course many were concerned. The atmosphere wasn´t exactly great, many thought this to be the worst moment at Utøya this year, but then things started happening. I had a lump in my throat. The biggest one ever.

. . . . . but a smart move and finishing off a well-planned day.
Except the part where he didn't get away.
News that he had ordered six tons of fertilizer and, it appears, no government security agency was alerted to it raises a lot of questions considering the day and age and earlier examples in other countries.

Thanks for that....i guess.
I know freemasonary beliefs are not considered a religion, and in fact i was under the impresion that freemason are forbidden to talk/relate/whatever about any religion at all while being among each other. I guess that doesnt preclude one from prcticing any particular religion outside the freemason belief sytem, but it does seem rather counter-productive if one si a practicing christian/muslim or whatever you kind of sect you wish to include.
Just seems odd to me that one would join a group that forbids indoctrination about your belief system when one is so hell bent in those very beliefs as this wingnut appeared to be. Afterall, any extremist from any particular group is bound by their beliefs to further the message through sharing the "word" and acting in defense of it at any opportunity.
At any rate, regardless of this guys religion or social network adherance, this is a massive tragedy for Norway and is why i stay on the fence about the death penalty continuously. No reason this scumbag should ever see the light of day again once his trial is over and authorities have all the information from him they need to try and prevent this from happening again.

That is surprising to me as well. Sounds like he has/had a farm, but 6 tons is a pretty large amount.

Official sources and social media indicate that Breivik might be a right-wing Christian fundamentalist who may have had an issue with Norway's multi-cultural society. The attack may have been politically motivated, one official said.

Apparently its pretty much a standard amount.
Quote:
The suspect, tall and blond, owned an organic farming company called Breivik Geofarm, which a supply firm said he had used to buy fertilizer -- possibly to make the Oslo bomb.
"These are goods that were delivered on May 4," Oddny Estenstad, a spokeswoman at farm supply chain Felleskjoepet Agri, told Reuters. "It was 6 tonnes of fertilizer, which is a small, normal order for a standard agricultural producer."

Catholics are not allowed to be Freemasons, or face excommunication from the church. Freemasonry is viewed by the Catholic church to be a religion in and of itself.

His viewpoints are actually very popular in Europe but of course the vast majority of people who think like him try to change the system democratically.
He just slaughtered the people who were active in the party that he blamed for letting in too many immigrants and Muslims into Norway and considered to be traitors to his country and culture.
I actually wrote an article a while ago on the dangers of underrating the danger right-wing nuts here in Germany after it was announced that there would be less money spent and less manpower used in monitoring right-wing extremists because more needed to be spent on left-wing extremists and Islamists.
Hope this changes things here in Germany.
