For a birthday dinner, go to Caesars. How far south do you want to be? What about Chinook area? I want to try out that new Chop place, but I have heard mixed reviews...

If you're looking for a good night out, just go down to Tommy Burger. You won't be disappointed.
I haven't heard very good things about Chop. My parents went a few months ago and said it isn't even half as good as The Keg.

how about:

- sbarro's in south centre
- cattle boyz (off of maclead) - place does not scream out romance, but those boys know how to char mamal flesh
- inn at lake bonavista (i think that is what is is called)
- one of the otehr locations of sbarro
- red lobster on mcleaod (if you went here you could pick up some new clothes at 100% legit - if she is into that rap look before, during or after dinner)

Nah, I didn't mean KD or something...I cook most often at home, but for a special occasion, I will cook something really nice that I wouldn't normally cook, break out the candles and wine, etc. It really all depends on the woman of course....some might appreciate that more than simply going out to a restaurant and some might not. Takes no effort to make a reservation and let someone else do all the work...

Sometimes part of the appeal of getting someone else to do all the work is the time you can spend chatting and having a few pops together before the meal comes.

All depending on your budget and distance travelled. I recommend Charcut downtown, across the street from the Calgary Tower. Kind of expensive, but amazing food. My roommate is family friends with the owner/chef and she gave us a sample tray of all the meats the make and cure there. My god...it was like I died and went to meat heaven. I recommend the duck-fat fried poutine if you get a chance.

Really? My thoughts on Tommy Burger were that if you are going to tout your restaurant as a burger restaurant then make sure you pay attention to the actual burger patty. Tommy Burger's burger patties were thin, non seasoned that added nothing to the "gourmet burgers" offered on their menu.

My wife and I found that for half the price of Tommy Burger you could go to South Street Burger at Cross Iron Mills plus there is the added bonus of not having serving staff that could lose a spelling bee to a pair of worn out shoes or bartenders that are unable to navigate an on-screen tv guide to find the HD feed of a hockey game.

If you are looking for a good burger in the deeper south then avoid Tommy Burger and check out Milestones. Their gourmet burgers don't disappoint.

Yeah, but he can't hit on the hot waitresses when the wife's not looking if he does that!

I checked this place out last year and it was pretty good overall (higher end price point but the food was solid).

That's good. I hate having soup for dinner.
