im not saying she isnt stupid and im not saying those that follow US politics dont have ample evidence of her being stupid.
i am saying that it has now become pop culture to simply state she is stupid as if to sound like you know what you are talking about! i have heard it plenty of times and each time i ask, oh ya, why do you think so, and in most cases I get the typical "cuz".
like they know Pailin, her politics and her intelligence because they seen Tina Fey do a skit.
Sarah Palin is this type person who you are describing.
And yes, people like that are annoying.
Your points not being lost, I just don't understand the relevance. No one here is spouting baseless 'in vogue' opinions.

I'm not a Palin fan, but the US's big issue is with Obama not Palin, regardless of the press's preoccupation.
Second paragraph - blatantly false. Obama is far from competent, doesn't understand simple concepts, historically ignorant, and clueless, dangerously so, on both domestic and world politics. Period. If Britain hasn't figured that out yet (regardless of their distraction with a polarizing celebrity figure who currently holds no office and is not running for one), they're slowly getting the picture.
Umm, if it was passed by "unanimous consent" does that not mean that Canada (and Harper) signed as well?

I suggest you talk to different people, then. There are numerous posters on this very forum who can articulately describe very specific reasons to support the claim that Palin is stupid and incompetent.

fair enough and i dont neccesarily disagree with this, however i usually take those saying it with a grain of salt until the demonstrate they actually have a back up to their position.
which is why i asked the question in the first place!
Will it still be a "sound bite" if you do some research and find out that she is infact, not the brightest knife in the lamp drawer?

"All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years." --Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008

Maybe you need to hang around with smarter people. Once something has reached the level of "cliche" as you put it there is a large degree of truth behind the assertion and it is simpler to state the cliche than enumerate the numerous instances that support the position.
I would be far more interested in samples of her thoughts or speeches that would, in any way, indicate she is anything other than a poster person for the radical right who is fed lines and then regurgitates them out to her followers.
I think it's pretty hard to argue that Obama hasn't been successful in his foreign policy. And let's not call Obama dumb, whatever you think about his politics, he's a smart guy. You're obviously just a partisan. I don't like Obama that much either, for the record.
like i said, i think its cliche to say she is stupid. she may very well be, but it must take a special kind of stupid to be a legit contender for that kind of work.
My opinion is, it's cliched to say George Bush is dumb (I still think the guy isn't as dumb as people think, he just puts on a facade so people would underestimate him), but I really don't get that same type of feeling with Palin. She really comes off as someone who has no clue about world events. She's good at posing in front of cameras and repeating the same nonsense over and over again. If she's not dumb, she's one helluva actress, that's for sure.
I'm sure most people heard about Palin's recent Paul Revere gaffe. She claimed that he rode through the night to "warn the British", then she was damn adamant after being questioned that she was right and she knows her American history.
The funnier part about it is apparently some Palin supporter then changed the Wiki page on Paul Revere to make her seem less ignorant by saying that Americans at the time were technically British subjects and so technically he was "warning the British" and her video was used as the source.
It may be cliche, but its true. She's told everything to say and hasn't the slightest clue of her own on any real issue that she hasn't given a written speech on.
Put her in an unscripted debate with any other candidate from any other party, and she'll get trounced a thousand times over.
LOL Obama is the same way, the guy cant do a speech with out a teleprompter and a great written speech about all 57 states.

I would still kill millions of my future babies all over her face. I just wouldn't call her ever again.

Zuluking, can you cite specific examples that would lead someone to believe Obama is "far from competent, doesn't understand simple concepts, historically ignorant, and clueless, dangerously so, on both domestic and world politics." I ask because I've worked in Washington and not even his biggest detractors there make these claims. They may not agree with his politics, but to say he doesn't understand simple concepts (essentially calling him dumb) is a stretch that I've yet to see anyone make, until now.
