Probably about 18,000,000,000 or $2.63 in cash value.

Not many of those stores left. Wal-Mart tended to build brand new stores at the first opportunity and abandon their old Woolco locations.

There's 4 still in Calgary that I can think of: Macleod Trail, Westbrook, Marlborough, and Northland Village.
I don't spend much time in any of those areas, so I could be wrong, but I believe they all still occupy the old Woolco locations.

I hate Bonnie Brooks. She needs to stop. The moment her voice comes on, I change the channel. Horrible to listen to.

Almost like they stopped trying a few years back....Too bad the dates aren't bumped up to 2012 as it is still nothing to get too excited about yet....they are likely going into Mexico also...

I go fairly often.
I read the flyers that stores mail me. Whenever there is a good deal there I go and buy that product.
I also go there when I need to buy something and don't want to deal with the crowds and lines at walmart.

Did they not take any Calgary stores? I mean, they took Forest Lawn. (Although now thinking of it, looks like Deer Run was left out)
Regardless, huzzah as the 3 near-ish to me are being done. (Which can only be a good thing considering how repulsive Zellers currently is)

HBC store locator lists 7 stores in Calgary, so, yes, Deer Run is the only one not converting to a Target right away.

I think they're holding off on the Deer Run spot until that entire mall is finished its demo/renovations

It's going to be nice to see the old Zellers stores close, get refurbished, and return with more staff. It seems like they're just left to rot right now -- at least the Chinook one seemed that way last Christmas.

$1.7 billion to buy the chain, and up to $10 million x105 locations to renovate. Target is definitely going big on this deal.

The Zellers in Forest Lawn just renovated and expanded not too long ago even though they were always dead. I'm not sure how that store is still in business.
I think it was renovated with the knowledge of it turning into a Target down the road.

Had to scratch my head when I saw Forest Lawn included on the list, but I would have to think that they considered the proximity of outlying communities like Chestermere, Langdon, etc when making the choice to keep that one in the mix.
