Hey!
I probably share those notions.

That's right. Everyone in Kansas is stupid because one Canadian in Kansas, on a Calgary message board, dares to question the 'honesty' of the US Government.
Brilliant 'general observation.'

The problem is most of us are skeptical of news and what Governments do or say. We just don't go to one extreme or the other.

I've made my feelings about the Westboro Baptist Church known on these boards, and even started a thread about how disgusted I was when they won their last battle in the Supreme Court.

Oh I know. I wasn't saying you were a supporter, just that they call Kansas home.

A week ago in the Washington Post was this column, talking about the never-can-die Birther issue. "Who Becomes A Birther . . . ." could be extended to any topic, including Bin Laden death doubters.

As before, about one-third to 40% of the population probably falls into the "conspiracy theorist" category - less than a majority thankfully - and if they believe in one theory, they will likely believe in many others, although "all" is too absolute.

All I am doing is questioning the validity of the story, which by the way, has been changed by the Whitehouse already.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42892575..._of_bin_laden/
Quote:
White House officials initially suggested bin Laden had been holding a gun and perhaps firing at U.S. forces. The corrected account raised questions about whether the Americans ever planned to take him alive, or simply were out to kill him.
|
Quote:
But on Wednesday, Pakistani security sources offered alternative details from the raid resulting in bin Laden's death, potentially clouding part of the White House version.
Citing senior Pakistani security officials, Al Arabiya reported that bin Laden's 12-year-old daughter said the U.S. special forces team first captured, then shot her father dead in front of relatives during the first moments of the raid on his compound.

It would be interesting to debate the issue and hear different points of view on what might have happened.

Really? You can understand why? Because I can't. I can't understand why it would be too hard for the American public to see, when we watched live bodies burning and jumping off buildings Sept 11/2001. I can't understand why we've mourned the death of thousands of soldiers, soldiers from Canada, America and other countries, but it will be detrimental to our sensitivities to see the pictures that prove the person who caused all of this is dead. I can't understand any of it.

I hope they do release whatever photo and video evidence they have. I believe that some transparency is in order for this particular situation.

^ And if they do release the photos, the conspiracy folks will just shrug it off as a photoshop or hoax. Nothing is gained by releasing photos of a dude with half his face shot off

That describes one of my best friends to a tee. He's always been gullible, ready to believe anything, which is usually a conspiracy angle to anything.
He even once started getting into scientology, thankfully me and a few other friends showed him the light thanks to some handy websites and of course south park
Demon Haunted world should be a mandatory book for young people to read in school, between ages of 13-16. I find some of the most passionate conspiracy theory people are often the younger crowd, ages 18-25. Although my friend is nearing his 40's now, he's a lot less into it then he was when we were in our early 20's.

Well, his daughter says he was "executed", so presumably everyone agrees the rat is dead; no? The question is in what circumstances he was killed I suppose, but I doubt the photos of the body will help with that.

Who cares what conspiracy theorists think? No government should cater their decisions around what a minority of nut jobs think. Publish the photos to show the population of sound intellect that the mission was accomplished.

Exactly what I was thinking, thanks for posting that.
No one that has been interviewed (interrogated) from the Osama side has said that he isn't dead.

Bouw mentioned this earlier in the thread but here's a source...

Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama has decided not to release photos of Osama bin Laden's body as evidence of his death, an administration official briefed by the White House told CNN Wednesday.
