You HAVE to be kidding, at what point did they turn left? Ignateiff is far more right wing, at least financially than the last several liberal leaders.

Quite frankly it was this arrogant opinion that dominated liberal campaign strategy - that only stupid people vote conservative - that led to their utter destruction. Sorry friends, the conservatives are educated business people - the kind that keep the economy moving.
Deal with it.

Yes. The conservatives of Canada are nothing like those idiots we see on Fox News from the republican party

Then the CPC would essentially become the PC Party again.
The PC Party was basically a right leaning centrist party before the far right separated and eventually absorbed the remaining conservatives that didn't defect to the Liberals.
If the CPC did start absorbing centrist liberals, it wouldn't be long before divisions tear them apart again.

And that shift appears to have helped the Conservatives. It looks like the threat of a surging NDP really helped the Conservatives. Not from vote splitting the left like one might assume but from chasing the right leaning Liberals to the Conservatives... (ie, Toronto)

Well, Layton played it smart. Quebec is more socialist than the rest of Canada, so if you promise them free crap and get them away from the separatist morons, they'll vote for you.
But big wins in Quebec mean nothing. Layton will now be exposed for the half-assed leader he is policy wise, and his inept party will fall apart as the Liberals move back to the Martin era where they were the strongest.

Sad part is that they don't even see it. The Canadian people obviously saw that the economy was the most important issue, and they ran with it. All the arrogant fear-mongering about Harper and his evil agenda resulted in a big loss for the Liberals.
But, I'm glad, because now the idiots can all leave the party and the fiscal conservatives can take over again. I'm looking forward to voting Liberal next time around.

riginally Posted by Weiser Wonder This is a pretty significant far left movement. This could be a short term victory for the Conservative party.

The Conservative's have increased their seats from 99 to 168 seats since the 2004 election including a roughly 25 seat increase in this election. Yes the NDP gained massive seats from the Liberal's and Bloc, but its not like they bought down the conservatives in terms of seat count or popular vote.
As much as this was an incredible result for the Liberals, it has to be looked at as am amazing result for the boooga booga scary secret agenda Conservatives.
