I only share them because even my Liberal friends aren't so ignorant and uneducated to say such things. It isn't like we elected GWB 2.0 or anything.

It was a left movement in one province.

The Conservatives added more seats in Ontario and held their stronghold out west.

The NDP is not going to do much if any damage to the Cons out West and not sure why the Ontario voters that decided the Conservatives were the better choice than the NDP when switching from the Liberals would then move all the way over to the NDP next time.

I get that the NDP are excited about the big gains but this was a clear win for the Conservatives and there is no reason to take these results as an indication they are in trouble next time or it is a short term victory.

He must not know he lost? Or he is really that out of it?

Nice speech by Ignatieff, but to me he sounds like a stoner with pie in the sky ideals and no real ability to govern.

I didn't say minimal experience makes them more extreme than the Conservatives. Jack Layton's platform does that.

It's not like the NDP hasn't promised Quebec crap in the past. The NDP was just irrelevant there. I'm shocked they took Liberal seats. Seats that have been Liberal since the 40s!

The most interesting thing going forward is not the Conservative majority, but the NDP supplanting the Bloq in Quebec.

The Quebec "movement" is still very much alive in that province, but it isn't exactly part of the NDP's core.

I'm fascinated to watch how they manage that challenge.

They are quite left-wing. Parties that have never ruled or have long breaks in ruling often have great difficulty adjusting to actually making policy (see the Mulroney cons and prov NDPs).

My thoughts on tonight which has a lot of wins for me.

Congrats to the Conservatives on gaining a majority and gaining about 24 seats to do so. Thank god for an end to the minority governments for a while.

congrats to Jack Layton. Look, I think his platform was absolutely terrible, but he represents a change in the house and a refreshing in the house. Its up to him now to see if he can carry on the momentum over the next four years.

The destruction of the Liberal Party is not such a terrible thing. Its not that I hate the Liberal Party, I hate what they've become, and arrogant parasitic party with no new ideas. A party where back stabbing is the key to survival. At this point, Ignatieff has to go, he lead the party to its worst finish in a loooooong time. Bob Rae has to eat a big sh%t sandwich, this was his platform, this was his fault for shorting out the democratic process and putting Ignatieff into government. Justin Trudeau cannot be seen as the easy heir to the party leadership, they need to find someone that can control the party and come up with a platform that resonates with Canadians.

Good bye to the Bloc, I've always said that Duceppe is a favorite of mine, but at the end of the day Quebec came out and stated that they are more interested in saying that they want to be a part of Canada then not. With the loss of official party status they lose everything and I'm not sad to see that happen.

And congrats to Elizabeth MAy on gaining a seat, you're mouthy, and rude and you don't bring much value, but I'm happier that the Green finally got some representation.

I'm extremely happy about this result.

if I hear any of this garbage about the Conservatives being bible thumping gun toting red necks, the person who says it had better be ready to get an earful.

Quite frankly it was this arrogant opinion that dominated liberal campaign strategy - that only stupid people vote conservative - that led to their utter destruction. Sorry friends, the conservatives are educated business people - the kind that keep the economy moving.

Deal with it.
