Ignatieff goes from "He didn't come back for you" to "Why the #### did I come back?"

it's great for people who can afford to donate to political parties - if you can't you're SOL

Yes he's wrong. Liberal Party is still a big one which is just falling on bad times. No WAY they merge with the NDP and become the NDP.

I'm hoping that all those things don't come true, but I think we all know that they will.

If that's all that happens then what exactly are you worried about?

The funny thing is Rae is a Bay Street lawyer that may have been an NDP and a Liberal but he wears blue underwear.
The man is simply an opportunist.

That some conservatives are going to show up at his door with unregistered guns pointed at him.

What?
you can donate whatever you can afford. 10 bucks, 100 bucks whatever.
How do you think Obama built his warchest that decimated the GOP?

I believe the majority of the democracies in the world right now are proportional representation systems. Minority gov'ts can get things accomplished and compromise is not a bad thing IMO. Majorities are a lot scarier than minorities.
PR is the way to go IMO. First past the post is a broken system that promotes 2 large parties. The Conservatives will now have a majority without securing the majority of votes. They have around 40% of the popular vote. How does that make any sense?

I agree with this, however, the Conservatives had 2 seats in 1992. Weeds never go away, they come back eventually if you are lazy and incompetent enough.

"We tried to run a different type of campaign."
Mission accomplished, Michael. The Liberals have never had a campaign like this before.

More Liberals would go Conservative than NDP. You can't just add up the seats and say a merger means flipping the majority the other way, or even a minority.
NDP is an extremest party and that will be on stage for everyone over the next few years. If the Liberal party broke up, that would probably just make the majority stronger.

But a vast number of Albertans can afford to - a way higher percentage than the rest of Canada. Therefore it is good policy.

There are so many parties in Canada that 40% of the popular vote is pretty large.
