Nice to see the CPC supporters really desperate. It is heartening.

Olivia is just protecting her canadate and party. The place was located in a seedy part of China town. Jack was a long time resident of the city. he would know where to get a message and where at 9:30 at night to get a "message".

People will likely use this as a call to rally support for the NDP which is why I don't understand why you are so upset about it. If you are worried about it working in Harper's favour, I'm fairly certain that won't happen. Sure, if this was the US then you might have a point, but this is Canada. Just watch, as asinine as all this is, the CPC will come out as the bad guys in this little controversy after all is said and done.

Hah, well as I guy who isn't looking for an NDP majority I guess that is a piece of it. The other issue is that I generally hate how the media covers elections with this type of thing. They should at least attempt to be unbiased as their coverage has a large effect on peoples opinions and the outcomes of the campaigns IMO.

What was he getting a message about? That his party would finally make a breakthrough in 2011?

The rest of it is just based on your bias, opinion, and conjecture. She may be entirely on the up and up... maybe she was pissed at Jack.
Either way, even if it did happen (the happy ending) which is not certain, it is not a crime and it was 15 years ago.

The police had raided the same place two weeks before. They were back primarily looking for underaged girls.

CPC have polling down to a pure science. When it comes to minutiae they've got it down pat. I'm betting their internal polls are showing higher numbers for the NDP than public polls indicate. This is a real Hail Mary on their part.

People that go to those places don't go there for your standard "Massage" they're destination places.
If he was going for a massage he would go to a actual for real licensed massage place.
And of course the timing is interesting to say the least, but at the same time there are some leaps of logic that people are making to point it to the Cons.
I haven't even seen an official comment from the Cons about this, and if they were going to take advantage of it they'd be all over Layton's junk errr sorry poor choice of words.
I'd rather see the media continue to focus on his platform then this.

So you should have been upset when the CBC ran story after story about the escort at a PM party right?

Also this: Being questioned by police and not being arrested or charged with an offense is not a matter of public record.

Nah I just couldn't let it slide... I'm picky like that.
Anyway, I highly doubt Jack actually made an appointment at the massage parlour looking to get off.
I actually think his/Olivia's version of events make more sense than the accusations do.

I absolutely agree. When it comes to something as sensitive as election coverage, I think that the media owes it to the public to present things in an unbiased manner, but that's not what we, or anyone else has. At least the playing field seems to be even now as you have biased media from all sides.
As a CPC supporter, can you imagine how frustrating it is when one Conservative candidate says something stupid and then suddenly the media jumps on it and starts lending conclusions pointing towards the dreaded Conservative hidden social agenda? Yet, it happens all the time, during every election, just like clockwork. No one on the left bemoans the sanctity of journalism then or cries out about smear campaigns. No, instead you get drones of Liberal and NDP supporters screaming about those "damn neo-cons (seriously, this #@$^ing ######s don't even know what a 'neo-con' is)". So yeah, in light of all this, I don't mind the timing of this story outside of the fact that I think it will probably end up hurting the CPC far more than it helps them.

Geez maybe you should read my comments. Again I said I don't care, it doesn't effect my vote at all.
If find it A) hilarious. B) Gross considering I just finished reading a book on what happens to these poor girls that end up working at these places.
And no these things don't happen at authentic for real therapeutic massage clinics or sports therapy clinics.

But were you upset about it, calling it irrelevant? Railing about smear campaigns.
At least there was nothing in there about Harper paying for her services.

I'm one of those 5000 people who was watching the Sun network. They were interviewing the court reporter who broke the story. I guess the cop who came foreward still had his notebook from the day of the raid. He is retired now and was suprised the story wasn't told before. I guess it was common knowledge within the police force.

As far as I read, there is no actual proof that anything untoward happened. They found him at a place that was under investigation.

I'm not upset by any of this. Politicians have their peccadilloes like anyone else. I'm an equal-opportunity satirist.
