Does being in favour of "woman's rights" (whatever that means) imply being against whore houses?
I don't think it does...

Maybe the massage parlor was where Jack got the message I've been hearing on his ads recently: "I won't stop until the job is done". Creepy actually.

The Sun is reporting it tonight so I don't think there will be anything in print until tomorrow. Layton and his wife have both issued statements and aren't denying the police officer's details. He is claiming he was juist there for a massage and didn't know she was a hooker.

I don't care that it happened. I care that it is treated as "breaking news" and is an obvious attempt to derail the guys campaign. There are many, many reasons why you could take a run at the NDP. Put together something credible...do a "reality check" on some policies or whatever. But don't try to pass this off as relevant.

Well... here is the riding chart I used. The dot beside the riding is what party I believed will win.
Note: I had an error in my first post, I will fix it and here are the new numbers:
CPC - 131
BLOC - 21
NDP - 83
LIB - 73
BC
In BC, the CPC to a moderate degree and NDP to a high degree are on the upswing and I used that momentum to predict movement within ridings.
The only riding I have changing from current predictions is Vancouver Island North where I have the NDP over the CPC. The NDP are only 0.3 points behind at the latest poll.
PRARIES
Alberta remains the same.
Saskatchewan and Manitoba will remain mostly the same but Winnipeg North looks like it will switch to NDP from Liberal.
ONTARIO
In Ontario the CPC is declining, the Liberals look to be stabilizing or moving down slightly, and the NDP surging. I have Oshawa switching to NDP from CPC, Parkdale-Highmark switching from Liberal to NDP, Vaughan switching from CPC to Libera, Kitchener-Waterloo switching from CPC to Liberal.
This is with the assumption that the CPC will continue to have decreased support in Ontario in favour of a stabilizing Liberal party and a surging NDP party.
QUEBEC
Quebec is where it gets REALLY interesting.
It is incredibly hard to predict because a lot of the riding polls are old but some of the new ones have shown HUGE movement towards the NDP (on the order of 15 to as much as 25+ points in some ridings).
I considered that the Bloc is tanking in Quebec, the Conservatives are way down from their high but now stable, and the Liberals are following the pattern of the CPC. The NDP on the other hand is skyrocketing, up above 40% in the province.
Therefore, I decided that ridings that were Bloc ridings but in which the NDP are within 5-8 points will probably switch. A few CPC ridings also look like they will fall to the NDP where the NDP are within 3 points or so. An exception to this is Louis-Saint-Laurent in which a new riding poll shows the NDP having closed a 13 point gap to be even with the CPC, so I believe the NDP will win this riding. Another exception is a recent riding poll in Jonquiere - Alma that shows the NDP closing a 28 point gap with the CPC to just 2 points. I believe the NDP will also win this riding.
ATLANTIC
In Atlantic Canada CPC support is decreasing while the Liberals are recovering and NDP are on the upswing.
Due to this I have Saint John switching from CPC to Liberal, West Nova switching from CPC to Liberal, Egmont switching from CPC to Liberal, and Random - Burin - St. Georges switching from CPC to Liberal. All of these are within 4 points.
NORTH
I have Nunavut switching from CPC to NDP, the NDP was only 0.2 points behind at the last poll.
The other two ridings will remain the same.
WHEW. If you have any questions, please ask/criticize.

not to be a complete jerk face, but it was clearly not a licensed therapeutic massage clinic or whatever they call them. Its usually pretty clear whats going on at these places.
If Jack got a happy ending, so be it.
Its gross but whatever.

A party leader being implicated in a potential crime days before an election is news. My outrage would be if they made stuff up. As long as they are just reporting the facts, then nothing is being done wrong. Every time a CPC candidate opens his mouth and says something stupid, it becomes national news. I don't sit here complaining that it shouldn't be covered. I think to myself that that was a stupid thing to say and he/she should be smarter than that.
At any rate, this is probably going to hurt the Conservatives more than the NDP (as ridiculous as that is) so you can just relax. Harper is still gonna "pay".

The character of a man who would go to a brothal made up of immigrants should be called into question. There would be a real possibility that the prostitute was working against her will. At the very least she would be being underpaid if at all.
Also he is claiming he didn't know what they did there. How stupid does he think the Canadian public is? Do you really think his wife bought his story? Would yours?

His wife's statement calls it a licenced extablishment but, she just means they had a business license. She is helping him spin this.

So a massage parlour registered with the City of Toronto is a brothel? And a customer is supposed to automatically know that?
Olivia says Jack told her about it, they agree with the Police's version of events... I don't see what the problem is here.
Nice to see the CPC supporters really desperate. It is heartening.

Its not a "potential crime days before an election" though. Its a non-crime (confirmed) about 15 years ago. If this took place tonight or last week then I'm all for it....but to bring up something that took place 15 years ago, where there was no wrong-doing and no charges or anything where the source isn't revealed - that is being done to smear a guy a couple of days before the vote. There is really no other reason to do that.

Well according to his wife it was a registered massage clinic. I don't think my wife would care if I went for a massage....I know that when she goes I couldn't care less though.

Why would the police be doing a bust on a licensed theraputic massage parlor.
Come on Olivia's covering up for something thats not a crime because he wasn't charged, but is something really gross, and combine that with the problem with these massage girls usually being basically slaves.
Wives of political figures do it all the time.

So is he supposed to know that, as a guy who was there for a massage?
Also, what do you think of the timing of the "breaking news"?

Obviously it was an attempt to smear him. Who's disputing that? If we could get all smear campaigns out of the media, then I think that would be great. That's not the reality of the situation though. Harper and Ignatieff are constantly dragged through the mud and now Layton is getting his turn. In all honesty though, I do wish that this came out years ago as opposed to now. People will likely use this as a call to rally support for the NDP which is why I don't understand why you are so upset about it. If you are worried about it working in Harper's favour, I'm fairly certain that won't happen. Sure, if this was the US then you might have a point, but this is Canada. Just watch, as asinine as all this is, the CPC will come out as the bad guys in this little controversy after all is said and done.

I'm sure this type of thing DOES happen occasionally at licensed therapeutic massage parlours.
The rest of it is just based on your bias, opinion, and conjecture. She may be entirely on the up and up... maybe she was pissed at Jack.
Either way, even if it did happen (the happy ending) which is not certain, it is not a crime and it was 15 years ago.
