Phoenix fans suck.

I wouldn't be saying that Phoenix fans suck, they just have too many options to choose from.
Rank the sports
1)NFL
2)NCAA
3)MLB
4)NBA
5)Golf
6)NASCAR
You saying you can buy a vacation home on your visa is a)insulting, but b) a big reason why people don't go to the Coyotes games. The economy is terrible. Arizona is in a bad spot right now, and if people don't have money to pay mortgages, they won't be attending sporting events. And for people that can afford to see sports, NHL is waaay down on their list of priorities.

Which WILL probably happen. Bettman wants to delay his being wrong about hockey not working in Phoenix as long as possible. What makes this story stand out WAY more than what is happening in Atlanta, is the Coyotes formerly being a Canadian franchise, possibly returning to where they came from.
I could see Atlanta moving before Phoenix, it would hurt Gary's feelings alot less!

And bouw has constantly insulted virtually every facet of life in Canada. So I guess he needs to learn how to take it.
All of those other teams and events seem to be surviving fine under those economic conditions, so basically what you are saying.... is the team doesn't matter enough.
And yes, I will rephrase it for you. Phoenix fans, are horrible, unsupportive hockey fans....better?

There isn't anything to negotiate, if the deal is legal they go away, if it isn't they sue, that is their only concern and one that the city could have addressed months ago (if the deal was legal).

Just as we Canadians are horrible, unsupportive baseball, basketball, NASCAR fans. Which is why we don't have any pro sports teams up here (except for those minor league talent Blue Jays and Raptors). The difference is their commissioners are SMRT enough not to shove those sports down our throats, because there is no market for them up here.
Bettman knows it has failed, but refuses to admit it. How many times has he said 'I believe hockey can work in Phoenix'? By saying "can", you pretty much have admitted it never had worked in 15 years Gary.

Partly. I also think that they realise that those sports don't have a cultural toehold here, so they know better than to spend millions planting pineapple seeds in the muskeg.

I just can't see that happening here from the league standpoint and for the team as a whole.

"I hope team's going to stay," Bryzgalov told the Sun. "It's such a nice area and such nice place to play hockey."
So's Cancun, an NHL team wouldn't work there either.

There are a lot of hockey fans in Phoenix, unfortunately for the Coyotes, most of those are fans of other NHL teams. There are probably more Detroit fans in Phoenix than Coyotes fans. I was at the last Flames game, and there were more Flames jerseys in the stands than there were Coyotes jerseys. That's the thing - those fans will come out and support their team when they are in town. The rest of the time, they don't really notice the Coyotes.
My neighbours in Phoenix all like the Coyotes, but, as mentioned above, there are too many other sports in town, and the economy isn't great, so they don't go to Coyotes games.

Exactly my point. Hockey never had a toe hold in Atlanta, Florida, Phoenix, or Nashville, so why does the NHL keep dumping millions into these whirlpools? Gary Bettman is spending millions a year of someone elses money to keep from admitting his own mistake. HOCKEY DOES NOT, AND WILL NOT WORK IN THE SUNBELT! Pull up shop, have a dispersal draft, have a 26 team league, and say goodbye to the revenue sharing.

Anyway, I am done trying to reason with you. I am going to go back to looking at vacation homes, next door to you, that I can buy on my Visa card.

I'll join you, I could totally use some more Aeroplan miles.

didn't expect anything different from Bryzgalov...I mean hockey's just a job for him and a distraction for most of phoenix fans from their 'real' sports.
Bryzgalov would meltdown in the crucible that is hockey in Canada during the regular season rather than waiting for the playoffs.
Soft. Just like his team.

no wonder GWI is suing.
Sorry Bouw N Arrow, i know you are just a passionate fan and feel badly for those who are...its just too bad there wasn't 20K more of you (like SJ) and you could have made it work...

Are you sure about that? It took a lot to convince council to cover this season's losses, and with things dragging out the way they are, I would say that it will become even more difficult to get council to go back to that well a second time.
That, I think, is Winnipeg's best chance. It is already known that the American governors aren't interested in Winnipeg, but if the alternative is that they are looking at their own money being lost because Glendale won't cover, they'll probably choose the lesser evil of having someone else risk their money, even if it is in an undesirable market.

What's this I hear about the Coyotes possibly moving to a different city in the next few years? Do you guys think Winnipeg has a chance of getting them?
On the other hand, I suppose there's probably some people who want the team to stay. So who knows, hey?
