I feel bad for anyone that thinks they're going to do a home invasion on us. Dale Gribble looks like amateur to what I'm playing with.

Thanks I live in Canada. You should move here one day. It is a real peaceful place. Sorry about where you live.

Not one murder in Canada since June 30, 1867.

Actually it's pretty dang peaceful here too. I'm sure there are no murders, rapes, or any sort of violence in Canada eh?

We can and do own guns up here too.....

The kid did not take the gun to school because school is dangerous. He brought it to school to show and tell. This could easily happen in Canada from an irresponsible gun owner.

Just like driving cars, you have to get a license, and then you have to follow the law to keep things civil, just like gun ownership.

People like you concern me. Citizens are afforded the right to own firearms for sport, protection from government and crime, and hunting.

The only thing stupid here is your argument on guns, and Americans.

I find it funny how you and I can basically disagree on everything that is hockey related but end up agreeing on this.

As for this incident, it was an accident. Sure, there was very likely some form of neglect here and the negligent party should be punished for it, but I hardly see how this story should be used as fuel to ban guns. Accidents occur and they are often tragic, but if this 5 year old got a hold of his dad's car keys instead of a gun, took it for a joy ride and ran someone over, I guarantee that no one would be calling for a ban of all automobiles.

Yeah, that's good in theory, but in most cases I'd say that if you're a responsible gun owner, having those guns in the house won't really help you anyway.

I've got several guns in the house, and I can guarantee they'd be no good if someone broke into my my house, simple because I wouldn't have time to get them out of their safe/proper storage.

Wow! So people shouldn't have the right to protect their own families in their own home because maybe no one might get killed this way? Sad thing is, that's pretty much how things are in this country. Crazy world we live in.

I don't have any children and I carry my pistol on me. The fiance keeps the shotgun under her side of the bed and a pistol in a lock box in her night stand. I work all kinds of late hours and she is trained to use the weapon and shoot for centre mass.

I wonder how many people in here have actually taken the CFSC.

I agree with rights to own guns... handguns to me are another issue because of what they represent (your intent to hide the fact that you are armed). If this was a shotgun i imagine the kid wouldnt be putting it in his backpack.

The fact that Canada doesnt have any laws that allow CCW's and that the discharge of restricted firearms is limited to gun ranges makes me feel safer.

Gun Crazy americans drive me mental, its not difficult to pull out a gun and shoot someone when you have adrenaline pumping... id rather that privilege be given to those who are trained to handle it (see police)

because the sole reason for an automobile's existence isn't to kill people.

A handgun and shotgun are supposed to make Dale Gribble look like an amateur? Sounded like you had one of the best guns in the world with your post.

The sole reason of a gun's existence is not to kill people, so what is your point?

That's like saying the primary use of a condom is to blow them into balloons.
