Holy crap, I'm amazed a five year old could actually get shots off without having his wrist broken.

That isn't what happened...

And people wonder why the USA is so screwed up. Stories like this don't even surprise me anymore. They sicken me.

How does a gun go off multiple times from falling out of a backpack?
Maybe im reading it wrong but it sounds like 2 kids got shot in the leg...
Americans setting the curve once again for terrible parenting.

It didn't go off multiple times. It says in the article that people were injured from the bullet and bullet fragments.

I'm sure there are idiots in Canada who don't store their guns properly either.

While this is probably true there is a big difference between proper weapon storage and a 5 year old bringing a handgun to school in his backpack for no discernible reason.

Agreed...but who knows where the kid got it? A 5 year old has little ability to discerne what the reality of things are. Maybe the kid found it after it was dumped? maybe he watched his parent lock it up and hide the key and went and got it.
At any rate...horrible story and certainly there will be a lot of questions to be answered by the child and the parents.

True, but the availability of guns, especially hand guns, is much greater in Texas. With more guns it just increases the probability that something like this will occur. If 1% of gun owners are negligent then more accidents will occur where there are more gun owners.
Heck, even if the gun owners are twice as responsible, if there are 10 times as many of them there will still be more incidents.
