I didn't think you get it, but it seems that you do after all. It has to be frustrating for the majority of cops when somebody crosses the line - no doubt. But given that you agree with this, why do you continue to harp on the negative examples and try to portray all cops as being corrupt?

That's kinda Pinner's shtick.

There are thousands of lawful, good arrests in Canada every day. Yet he grabs the sensational ones and attempts to affirm his agenda.

For the record (and from I have read and seen), yes, this cop should be charged and see his day in court. It must be frustrating as a cop who doesn't cross that line to see that kind abuse.

What must be more frustrating is seeing guys like Pinner and Mikey paint them all with that brush.

And maybe I should have clarified. The Crown is the one that will pursue a charge on a cop. The police may, in their professional opinion, say that they have reasonable grounds to lay that charge. But in the end, it is the Crown's decision.

Actually its generally most City Forces take drop out RCMP members or applicates. As well the RCMP training is longer and harder than any other police force..

Secondly the RCMP is a huge organization.. Every large organization has bad employees.. and I would say 1% up 5% are like this Kelowna police officer.

I know a number of people that have applied for the RCMP, the physical requirements are high, and the vetting process is very intensive.

That said, people will trickle through the cracks, and if there is a need of recruits from specific groups they'll have an easier time getting in. What I mean is there are a lot of applicants from Newfoundland or Nova Scotia the applicants there will have a harder time being accepted than if there is few applicants from Alberta, at least from what I understand.

While I sympathize with the people who claim to have been assaulted by cops, I've gotta' say that every interaction with a police officer I've ever had has been a pleasurable experience. Even with the #####ers who've ticketed me.

As they say, it's a shame that a few rotten apples can create such an ugly stain.

The charge is likely obstruction, and I highly doubt it will stick. The NYPD is on a massive blitz targeting bike riders, and it's getting way out of hand. They ticketed a woman for having her purse hanging from her handlebars, under a law that doesn't actually exist.

As for jay walking, it's NYC, jaywalking doesn't exist.

A pretty simple solution would be to just disband all police forces in the world. Who needs em at all if this is how they're going to act.

I can honestly say my few experiences with Police officers, they have been professional. Campus Cops are an entirely different story.

Back a few years ago, I lived in Calgary for 20 months. I received a CTrain ticket, as I was new in town, and had forgot to validate my ticket downtown. I went to the Transit station and asked for more time to pay it off. Unfortunately, I was lazy and only paid off half the ticket, so unbeknown to me, there was a warrant out for my arrest.

I was on the Library computers at the U of C, when the Campus cops did their routine check at around 10 PM. Since I was a visitor, I gave them my ID. When I realized they ran my name through the computer, and the warrant came up. I realized this, and since I had to work at my job the next morning, I asked for my ID back, and was walking off to the bus stop. I was thinking "s**t! I got to go to Transit tomorrow and pay that off!"

A couple of the officers came to the bus stop, and asked me to come back first thing tomorrow morning. One of the Campus Cops was definitely roided up, as his eyes were glossy and he was way too big for his frame. I asked what it was about. He replied "just to talk". I refused, as he was inches away from my face trying to intimidate me, and knowing that they had no jurisdiction outside the campus, I simply started walking to 24th Ave.

The Campus cop proceeded to follow me from behind a foot away, saying that he called the Police etc etc. Once I crossed 24th southbound, he stopped and waited for a fellow Campus cop to catch up. To my amazement, he then crossed 24th Ave and was walking towards me (Campus Police are not allowed to leave the University property, unless you committed a crime on Campus).

So the Police came, and I stopped, and simply said "sorry Should have paid the Ctrain ticket...lol" So the Calgary Police simply handcuffed me for a brief moment, tossed me in the back, and just told me to pay at the station and I could go- simple as that."

Meanwhile the roided up Campus police dude is telling the officers that he needed a picture of me, and wanted to talk to me for a couple of minutes. The officer told the Campus cop "Sir, don't interfere with us while we are trying to do our job." The Campus cop looked like he was about to explode, he was so angry.

He yelled "You're banned from Campus! If I ever see you on University property, you will be arrested!" The officer told him to go away, and I could hear the Police officer saying to his partner "what the hell is wrong with that guy?" It was amusing to say the least.

To make a long story short, I went down to the station, paid the ticket and was on my way by midnight. I phoned the Head of campus security the following day and told him about the incident. He believed me, and said I was free to be on University property as long as I had no warrants, and the Campus cop dude had made a "mistake."

So I guess the moral of the story is don't be stupid and pay your CTrain ticket on time...lol.
