Um, no. Idiots cause the violence, except in the very rare cases when the religion preaches violence.
There are riots after hockey games. I wouldn't say that hockey causes violence.

I disagree.
Heaven and a soul could exist independently of a god.
Also, what if the only religious tenant I believed in was that there was a god, but I didn't know anything about them beyond that. Are you saying that wouldn't be an ideology. You seem to be suggesting you need multiple beliefs to have an ideology and beliefs contingent on other beliefs do not count.
I guess by that definition most religions are contingent on the fact god(s) exists.
Anyway, I've got to get back to work, but I think we could all learn a lot by watching the South Park mini-series "Go God Go".

If it's Canucks hockey I would.

It's funny how the reaction to this incident was to kill eight innocent people.
Seriously... those people need to calm the **** down. If they really wanted to respond maturely, they would have ignored it, or prayed for the pastor instead.

And I would argue that religious folks are extremely stubborn about the main tenant of their beliefs...that a god exists.
Now what?
Come to think of it there is only a minute difference between atheists and those who choose to believe in a deity - atheists just take it one deity further.

Tenet. Although tenant is certainly an interesting malapropism.
And a vague, personal concept of god might probably be considered spiritualism.

It's not incumbent upon an atheist to dictate the structure of another's belief system.

If it is the same Pastor that was threatening to burn the book before. His motives were a little deeper than thumbing his nose at Islam. It also was more political than religious. He believes Islam to be a religion of violence and sees the political correct West as making a deadly mistake for not calling a spade a spade.
Nobody could have predicted where and how violent the response to burning a Koran would be. However everyone seems to have been able to predict a violent response. That fact and also the fact that no one could have predicted that it would take place in Afganistan and say not England or Iran is telling. It means whether we want to admit it or not the religion of Islam has a violent minority within its ranks and they seem to be spread out around the world wherever there is an Islamic community.

It didn't fly back then. Joseph was going to dump her.

What about Jesus and Mohammaed rolling blunts with pages from the Bible and Koran?

I don't remember you from previous iterations of this thread topic, but you sure have made your mark in this one. Every one of your apologetic bull####tings reeks of ignorant special pleading and blatant false equivalence.

The Dragon In My Garage
by
Carl Sagan
"A fire-breathing dragon lives in my garage" Suppose (I'm following a group therapy approach by the psychologist Richard Franklin) I seriously make such an assertion to you. Surely you'd want to check it out, see for yourself. There have been innumerable stories of dragons over the centuries, but no real evidence. What an opportunity!
"Show me," you say. I lead you to my garage. You look inside and see a ladder, empty paint cans, an old tricycle--but no dragon.
"Where's the dragon?" you ask.
"Oh, she's right here," I reply, waving vaguely. "I neglected to mention that she's an invisible dragon."
You propose spreading flour on the floor of the garage to capture the dragon's footprints.
"Good idea," I say, "but this dragon floats in the air."
Then you'll use an infrared sensor to detect the invisible fire.
"Good idea, but the invisible fire is also heatless."
You'll spray-paint the dragon and make her visible.
"Good idea, but she's an incorporeal dragon and the paint won't stick."
And so on. I counter every physical test you propose with a special explanation of why it won't work....
<the rest>

The modern atheist movement and its leaders start with I don't believe there is a god, but I don't discount the possibility. Its a scale they do it, so say 99% sure, but never 100% sure.
Just like anything, we have to leave the possibility open, because if evidence presents itself affirming god we have to examine it and alter our perspective.
I know, that's pretty radical.

Demon Haunted World should be required reading in every high school.
