Does anyone use any of the apps for remote viewing your computer? I want to use the ipad to log into my pc at home and be able to log into my remote viewing for my work through our website. I have heard teleport app is good but at 25 dollars is it the best?

Another one getting good reviews is Screens. You can read the review here.

http://www.macstories.net/reviews/ma...hone-and-ipad/

Same site also has a review of LogMeIn as well.

http://www.macstories.net/reviews/lo...sy/#more-21345

Out of the 3, Screens is the cheapest at $20.

I have tried most of these apps, and walked away with LogMeIn.

For most users, LogMeIn is best as it does not require any port forwarding and is dead easy to configure.

The recent update of LogMeIn also makes it very powerful, with the ability to access files and copy them over to the iPad (without logging into the screen).

A+ to LogMeIn.

Does screens work on windows? I see that it says windows support but in the blog it is looking for a programmer back in january and no update past then. Looks like it has better reviews then teleport so I might take the plunge if it does infact support windows 7

I will be doing lots of excel and number entries into websites which do you think would work best? I wish apps came with a 3 day trial or something like that to see which one works best for my scenerio

Bought the LogMeIn app based on your recommendation. Very good on the iPhone...amazing on the iPad. Love it.

I use iTeleport. I bought it when it was Jaduu something-or-other a couple years back. Is LogMeIn any better? So far, I have very little to complain about.

I'm always looking for good utility apps, though. Remote desktops, ssh terminals, system monitors, etc. I'd love to get my hands on a really nice iPad IDE too. I'm using Textastic so far. It's great, but I'd love me some autocomplete (not autocorrect).

iTeleport is pretty good as well. The latest update of LogMeIn makes it better. (access files, copy them to iPad etc) and the interface since the newest update is amazing on the iPad). However, Is it worth it considering you already own iTeleport? Doubtful.

Note for LogMeIn you have to install a client software on the computer, which allows it to bypass port forwarding as well as offer other features such as the file access features.

If you are unable to install such a program at work and only are able to use the VNC port use iTeleport.

I was in an Apple store Saturday and they had several 16gb units available. I declined as I have a 64 on order and will wait for it to arrive.

Just stay away from the Futureshop in Country Hills. That's my private cache of in-demand gadgetry.

Still waiting for Russic to explain his blasphemous comments on twitter last night. Disappointed with an iPad 2? Touch screen not marrying well with tv apps? Wah?

It's not at all that I'm disappointed with the iPad 2! We hooked it up to a tv and started playing around. Seeing as my wife is a teacher I see a big benefit to being able to do that for a class or presentation.

My issue is that when the Apple TV came out everybody immediately questioned the lack of apps. I wasn't big into the debate, but I did think it would be an easy enough task. Plugging the iPad into a tv though has given me reason to question it though. Sure some apps work great, but the majority have issues that become immediately apparent.

The biggest problem is that if the app demands a fair amount of touches to navigate, it becomes more useless because you aren't able to look at the tv anymore. TV apps need to have button presses, and if your app is designed with a touch interface, that changes the game up quite a bit.

I no longer think it's as easy to just port apps over... they need to be redesigned from the ground up in many cases. Sure there are the streaming ones that would work well on a tv (hulu, cbc, global etc.), but when it comes to those services they work anyway via airplay. The latest update that allows apps to send video to the apple tv almost kills the necessity for tv apps imo.
