I think quite possibly the most kind NHLer I've met was Cujo. He's a very sweet person and he's very real, nice to the person he's talking to. He's a salt of the earth kind of guy.
Bob Probert was always very nice to me but he was dating my roommate. He was hysterical but not the sort of guy I'd want to hang out with.
My girlfriend and I had to babysit her bratty cousin Eric Lindros and I still have a scar from the little pip kicking me in the shin.. Oh I would have liked to slapped that little bugger.. Then he got really cute..
Lots of the NHLer were very professional and soft spoken in public. I would really love to meet Iggy, I think he's a definite class act- love him! Maybe some day!

Chatted briefly with Mike Keenan a few years ago and found him to be a very thoughtful guy.
Zarley Zalapski and Rick Tabaracci used to come in to the video store I worked at years ago. Both were really cool guys and Tabby's wife was a knock-out.

Yes I would think so. She was a Miss Universe runner-up. (and was robbed)

Trent Klatt, met him when I was a kid.
Surprisingly Bertuzzi was a great guy when I saw him in Kelowna a few years back.

That's weird about Bieksa.
I was going to put him on my nice list, we were both waiting for a worker at Home Depot and he was cracking jokes the whole time and let me talk to the worker ahead of him.

met so many I cant remember them all...
some great guys were Gordie Howe (talked to him at least 4 times), Glenn Hall, Gerry Cheevers (loves the horse races), Phil Esposito, Johnny Bower, Dale Hawerchuk, Derek Sanderson, Bobby Orr...some guys that were less than friendly were Mark Messier and Bobby Hull....but they probably weren't interested in chatting to fans at that time.

A buddy of mine once went up to Phil Housley at a bar and did the whole, I think you're a great player spiel....Housley in turn looks at him and asks how old are you? He's younger than Housley but probably looked about the same age as Phil.

Year ago during the childrens hospital Miracle Network, my son was hospitalized and Lanny and his wife visited and were so very nice. Met Guy Lafleur at a Co-op when he was hyping his drink, Flower Power, (gatorade type i guess) he was quiet but polite (handsome too!)

Won't really comment on others are "rudeness" can be quite subjective depending on the person however the Regehr comments do surprise me a bit. The few times I have met him and had the chance to speak with him he was nothing but nice and polite. Perhaps not quite as much so as say Iggy but very courteous nevertheless.

The only NHL'ers I've ever met were Shanahan, Lucic and Weekes. Weeke's was really nice, and talkative. I worked at Maxim magazine, and he briefly did a blog for us as the Devils headed into the playoffs.
I met Shanny on his first day of work @ the NHL offices. I was there to interview someone, and Shanny walks up and shakes my head. I did a bit of a double take, cuz I just thought he was some suit and then it hit me. He was very quiet...but nice enough.
Lucic was real cool, interviewed him about the winter classic only for him to get hurt shortly after. Poor dude. When I shook his hand, I felt like I was a little kid considering how huge his hand was compared to mine.
My friend has a great story of meeting Kasparitus after an Isles game, and doing donuts in the empty coliseum parking lot with him.

Iggy and Theo in '97 at the Fox. I'll never forget Theo walking in and being the man, while Iggy sat back in the corner quietly wactching the show. I'll never forget how humble and nice of a guy he was/is.
I ran into Iggy again at Thi Thi subs at 2AM with Farence and Kobasew. Right after the Ducks eliminated the Flames. I was drunk and being a bit of an a**, then turned around and there was Iggy. He even held the door open for me to leave and just laughed.
Anyways, as far as pro athletes go (I have met quite a few), Iggy will always be #1 in my books. A real genuine first rate person.

I met Lanny once. The circumstances were less than ideal, and he was not exactly rude but not exactly friendly either. It was a bit of a stressful situation.
I often see Regehr in the neighbourhood, and I've talked with him on a few occasions. Our kids are the same age, so that gives us a topic of conversation. He does seem to be kind of quiet.
I have also met Brent Sutter during training camp this past year. He shared some insights with the poster Nekhara and, if I remember correctly, praised Backlund at the time.
The only other hockey person I've ever met was Harley Hotchkiss, and he is a wonderful person. We didn't even really talk hockey. He grew up not far from where I was born, so we talked about home. I have seen him a few times since then, and he always stops to say hi and calls me by name.

The nicest ones I've met so far have been Iggy, Gary Roberts, and M-A Fleury.
Iggy has always been good, and signed everything that anyone wanted. Chatted a bit as well when I've met him.
Roberts was a class act after a Pittsburgh game here in Vancouver, and made sure that everyone that wanted something signed got it. He even hung around and chatted with people for probably 20 minutes after he stopped signing.
Fleury was hurt (I believe it was when he injured himself in Calgary) and he was very open to chatting with the people around.
The worst was Jordan Staal as he just ignored everyone and went on his way. I'll see if I can remember anyone else.

My brother in law's best friend growing up was Adam deadmarsh so I got to hang out with him at the wedding (he was the best man). Seemed like a really nice guy.
I've heard from several sources that teemu selane is an insanely nice guy.
Ran into iggy once. He said hi to me. I was too heterosexually dazed to say anything to him though.
Sold dean mccammond weed killer once, he was cool.
Never had a bad experience with a hockey player. Heard plenty of stories about neon dion but nothing first-hand.
