this does not mean the left lane is the fast lane, unless you consider going the speed limit vs a car not going the speed limit, to be fast.

conventionally, when i hear "fast" lane, people are using it to imply thats the lane to speed in.

i have yet to hear any legal citations indicating its ok to speed, as long as you are in the "fast" lane.
Lol someone who does the speed limit in the left lane is accusing me of being obtuse?

The left lane IS for speeding, and 90% of vehicles in the left lane are going above the speed limit. Is it really that hard to get into the right lane if you want to do the speed limit? or pass into the left lane until you get by the car with the "malfunction" and then go back to your lane?

You're just being a dick if you try to police the highways by not allowing people to speed.

By staying to the right you are keeping the roads safer. Your moral judgments on speeders is irrelevant. What is important is that you get out of the way.
we are talking about two differnt issues.

the rules of the road actually are its aok to do the posted speed limit in either lane.

the rules of the road state if you are not capable of going the speed limit, you are to proceed in the right hand lane until you can exit the road.

the rules of the road do NOT say, its ok to speed in the left lane.

like i said, for your safety, just move over the right and let mario andretti pass. thats not agreeing that the left lane is for speeding.

No..it isn't universally known for speeding....and if you believe it is, you're the problem.

who said i was policing by going the speed limit in the left lane? i said let the jerkoff's who are "awesome drivers" have the left lane.

thats not the same thing as you are suggesting. how about you be a good citizen and drive the speed limit for the safety of others?

And you keep skirting the issue.

If you are not passing anyone and you have no right to do the speed limit in the left lane if you are obstructing traffic. If you are obstructing traffic you should get a ticket.

Now you seem to move over out of some hilarious fantasy about the evils of speeders, which is fine by me, but it doesn't make it correct according to the rules of the road.

Those folks driving the speed limit in the left lane (hopefully for passing only!) should not be forced to "move over" for someone driving over the speed limit...I'm pretty sure the law would agree with me on this one.
I actually agree here.

You can be in the left lane as long as you are going faster than the car in the lane to the right of you.

Unless of course you're doing 1-3km/h faster than the car to the right of you and you're just blocking traffic, then you're a dick.

But if I'm on the highway, deerfoot, whatever and I need to go around a guy I move into the left lane. If someone going 140 wants to pass and I'm only doing 120 I don't care. As long as I'm steadily moving past the guy next to me I think it is ok.

When I pass that guy I move back into the right lane and let the 140 guy pass me.

what? show me where I am not allowed, by law, to do the posted speed limit in the left, middle or right lane?

show me where it says, speeders use the left lane?

slow traffic stay right does not mean, speeders use the left lane. its means EVERYONE GO THE SPEED LIMIT REGARDLESS OF YOUR LANE BUT IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CANT, PLEASE STAY IN THE RIGHT SO YOU DONT CAUSE CONGESTION AND CONFUSION WITH THE OTHER CARS WHO ARE GOING THE POSTED LIMIT.

Its also good TIPS to move over so the as$hat who is driving 140 can get as far away from you as possible. i am not endorsing nor have i ever, playing traffic police and blocking traffic, jsut because you are going the speed limit and want to prove your point.

you could be right and dead.

where does it say anything about its ok to speed as long as you arent in the right lane?

sure, im not saying anything different other then its not cool or legal doing 140 (in a 100 zone) and you cant justify simply by saying "its in the left lane".

People who drive the speed limit can be just as dangerous as people who speed.

You really don't see how a car going 100 km/hr in the left lane while 50 other cars behind that car are going above that speed can be dangerous?

Now we have 50 cars trying to switch lanes at high speeds because one doosh bag is driving the speed limit in the left lane.

I drive the damn deerfoot everyday...it's people with your mentaility that are the problem. The problem is the excessive speed and sense of entitlement...not the left lane drivers.

So where do the people with my mentality usually drive? 99% of the time in the left lane.

So if you want to avoid people like me just stay in the right lane and you'll be fine.

Then what exactly are you arguing about? That I'm breaking the law? Yes I admit to that. That the left lane isn't for speeding? ok if it makes you feel better. The reality is that everyone knows it is.

Yeah, I see how its dangerous. The question that baffles me is that for some reason you believe you are entitled to drive over the speed limit and blame the other guy that is not breaking the law...and somehow it's the other car that is dangerous.....

You're the one not going the posted rate...why should you not be considered the problem?

im discussing the incorrect notion that the left lane is the "fast" lane when in fact it is the right lane that is the "slow" lane and the left lane is for going the speed limit and passing those cars going slower in the right lane.

did i not spell it out enough times?

Lol ok well maybe that's what it's for, BUT how are they used? Seems like you have a hard time grasping reality and how people actually use the left lane.

Your user name is really fitting.

No, people like you should be reported, and you were reported...correctly and justifiably so...yet you complained about it...like you are entitled to drive like a dick.

I think one day you'll come around to my view of things...give it a few years.

I never said I wasn't the problem and if an accident happened I would most likely be 100% at fault. Still makes the left lane speed limit drivers real dicks.

never mind my user name, its there for those of you who are out of argument and need to resort to my user name as their only defense. you fell right into my trap ;-)

that said, i am quite clear on how many people use the left lane, doesnt make them correct though.

left lane is the speed limit lane
right lane is the speed limit and slower lane

you seem to believe

left lane is the speeding lane
right lane is for everyone else to GTFO of the way of the good drivers.
